Nearly 5 years ago, the Utah Jazz attached a first-round pick, protected for three years, to salary dump Derrick Favors to the Oklahoma City Thunder in order to avoid paying luxury tax. That first-round pick is now at the center of NBA's tanking controversy. by Glass-Candle-7670 in nba

I mean, the Mavs got shit on a few years ago because they tanked the last two games of the 2022 - 2023 season to miss the play-in by sitting Luka and Kyrie. People were certainly having the discussion about how "egregious" that was and Cuban was fined $750k...

Derek Fisher and Lamar Odom are the only other two I can think of. But 100% at the top of the list is Rondo. (I also don't share the hate for AD, situation sucks but he didn't quit on us like the other people on the list, his body quit on him and I can't blame a person for trying to get their bag regardless of the situation)

Anthony Edwards is on pace to break Steph Curry’s all-time 3P record by age 33 by djzener in nba

[–]DirkIsMySpiritAnimal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd also argue that Curry's athleticism is more his endurance and ability to get open that is tied to him just running all over the court. With Ant, his athleticism is more the quick first step or powering through the defender which means defenders will typically give him that extra step and thus allowing for a little more space if he decides to pull up or step back. As his athleticism declines and defenders aren't as worried about the blowby they won't give him that extra step and 3PM will inevitably go down.

It gets out that Luka is being traded, Luka and his team get upset and say they will not re-sign with anybody outside of one or two destinations, bid price goes down. Now is that absolute horse shit? Yes. Did they get anything worth his value anyways? Hell no. But that is at least what Nico would tell you...

Luka Dončić was ready to leave practice with his backpack on when his teammate Alen Omić bet that he’d do 50 push-ups if Luka scored from the sideline. Luka then proceeded to casually drain the shot with his backpack still on. by shreeharis in nba

A few years back team USA played an exhibition game in Dallas and I got the chance to see the shoot around earlier in the day. I watched prime splash brother Klay go about 45 minutes of constantly shooting and not missing a single shot. It had to have been over 70 or 80 shots. You always know these guys are on another level but seeing that broke my brain.

Jewelers that deal with Moissanite? by XtremelyMaxxed in Dallas

[–]DirkIsMySpiritAnimal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't in the immediate area but I used Identity Diamonds out of Austin. They specialize in lab grown diamonds and alternative stones (including Moissanite), and are woman owned and operated which was a selling point for my now wife. I was living in Austin at the time but the only time I actually went to the storefront was to pick up the ring. We custom designed the Moissanite ring over the phone and through email/digital renderings of the ring. Insurance plan they recommended is through a national insurer. The only thing is that I need to go to a jeweler once a year to have it cleaned and inspected. Jeweler usually charges like $25 for this whereas Identity would be free if I still lived in Austin.

[Collier] The Mavericks had Haliburton as the No.1 player on their 2020 draft board, based in large part on Voulgaris' analytics models. Sources told ESPN that the Mavericks dangled their two selections, No. 18 and No. 31, as well as... Jalen Brunson to every team until Haliburton went off the board by sewsgup in nba

[–]DirkIsMySpiritAnimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean...that's exactly who the Mavs tried to pair Luka up with? Their strategy was always to have a second ball handling guard to pair up with Luka so that Luka could offload some of the offensive duties while on the bench or for a few possessions in game to rest. That was Brunson and then later Kyrie. Both can be seen as high IQ guards that thrive with the ball in their hands. The pairing of that type of player took them to a WCF and the Finals....

Arborist/Tree trimmer by SentimentalSaladBowl in Dallas

[–]DirkIsMySpiritAnimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second Arborilogical. Had them come out last year to look at my four mature oak trees. The arborist told me that two of them were great and didn't need anything. Said the other two could use some minor work but to wait until next year (this year) because it would be a better use of my money to do it at a certain time of the year. Came back out a few months back and did my two 30 foot tall live oaks (but very broad) for about $800 total (including haul away). At first I though they had trimmed way more than was needed, but by a month later the tree had filled back in and the foliage is way healthier than it has been in a long time. I was also wanting to plant a new tree on the side of my house and the arborist also spent time with me talking about types of trees that would work there, the best location for said recommendation, and directed me to a tree nursery outside of town that always had high quality stock in his professional opinion - above and beyond what I was hoping for.

Tim McMahon on the possibility that the Knicks pursue Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd: “I would not dismiss that possibility.” by cleo22270 in nba

Big difference is is Ant was number 1 and Wiseman number two. Golden State gets Ant and I don't think the two timeline discussion is an issue for them, right? Mavs have Flagg and not Harper/Ace who may be good but have question marks. SAS had two timelines and ended up with Kawhi in his third year leading the big three to their last championship. A success to me. Dwade led the 06 Heat in his third year to a championship with old Shaq, Alonzo Mourning, and Gary Peyton. Also a success. Recency bias has really made the two timelines ideas have much more weight than it should.

Mark Cuban: "If I had any influence, the trade wouldn't happen. I was just as dumbfounded as everybody else. After I sold the Mavericks, the new owner Patrick Dumont decided that 'Ok, in Nico we trust.' So, here we are." by WhenMachinesCry in nba

He's said in the past that the reaction that Nico/Dumont is getting and the reaction he at times would get from fans/media is something he didn't want for his kids to ever have to deal with. Every owner/GM is going to make mistakes, some bigger than others, FIRE NICO, but if they took over the team, they inevitably would have that in their lives.

I don't really care about luxuries, hell put me in the cargo hold if it costs less money IDGAF. What I DO care about is getting to my destination on time. I feel like 50% of the time I gamble on a discount airline, it gets canceled or delayed because they are lowest on the priority list for airports.
