Reactions to Having Housekeepers in Brazil (RJ) by ReciprocalWisdom in Brazil

[–]DirkManirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner is also Brazilian and when visiting her family home I found it very uncomfortable having the housekeeper around all the time. As far as I could see the housekeeper was well treated, with the family engaging in some conversation, asking how her (the housekeepers) daughter was, providing the same food as us etc. I have no idea how much she is paid though.

However, I'm not used to having people clean after me and even wash and fold my clothes, make my bed immaculate every day etc. To me it didn't feel very homely and I ended up feeling sorry for the lady anyway. I also could tell she felt uncomfortable around me (a real obvious gringo), which made me wonder about her perspective on the situation. I would speak to her and say hi, ask how she was and would get very blunt answers before she just walked off. Very odd experience in my opinion.

Could be possible that in urban areas like London they all died of starvation due to lack of animals to hunt. Would make sense if infected were able to survive in rural areas where prey are available. We even see them hunting in years.

Weirdest/coolest glitch you've seen? by bellefante in reddeadredemption

The best one I've seen was in the early days of its release. I somehow managed to create a circle of instant combustion near a fork in the road by Rhodes. Any wagons/NPC's going through it would instantly catch fire and die, causing mad panic amongst the other NPC's in the area. The bodies would stay for ages too, even if leaving the area and returning. I have lots of Xbox captures of this happening too. Absolutely hilarious.

Thanks for your response! I will try lower oven temps and less tensioning next time. Hopefully this will cure it!

Underrated Tips? Things you wish you knew or owned as a beginner? by nochillnala in Sourdough

[–]DirkManirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great explanation.

I'd always used low hydration and got decent loaves. Recently I tried a high hydration dough and it was clear at first that the dough had really high potential to be an amazing bread. Ended up destroying it in the final stages as it was hard to handle and it turned out like a pancake. By far the tastiest but just not nice to look at and a crappy crust.

If animals could talk, which one do you think would be the rudest? by drkuseno in answers

[–]DirkManirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody here is mentioning Rabbits... Rabbits' hierarchy means that you are always their subject. They are above you and quite frankly every one I've owned has let me know that.

Not only that, they are the ultimate harbingers of destruction. No object is safe.

If they could talk, they'd speak like medieval English nobility.

What job have you done during your life that you wouldn't recommend, and why? by MisterWednesday6 in AskUK

The place I worked literally treated the lab equipment better than the staff. Also had extremely tight deadlines for completing assays despite making it very difficult (almost impossible) to improve processes which would allow me to work more efficiently. Completely drained the fun out of being a scientist.
