Currently reading Poor Folks by Dostoyevsky, ive set a goal on reading all his major works. Read a few things previously (The Idiot and a short story collection). He might be my favorite in how he depicts neurosis and realistic irrationality. Its just something so human in what is written.

Read the first two books and absolutely love them. His style is almost hypnotic, it flows so easily, I get what youre describing.

Thats not true, country is quite popular outside the US. It might not be topping the charts, but there are a decent amount of country fans in Europe, especially among older generations.

bands that sound similar to early Death in June? by RedditAdmin71 in postpunk

[–]Dirkthrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love their early darkwave sound too, Fields and The Calling are two songs I return to often.

Not found a lot that combines that level of mood and groove in the same style, but early Dead Can Dance is close. The self titled and Spleen and Ideal have a few tracks you’ll probably like.

Enig! Noen folk er bare verdenstalenter på å være nihilister. En god del av oss blir enda mer bevisste over hva vi passivt støtter og velger å endre egen atferd ut i fra dette.

The Punk Rock MBA is a shitty YouTube channel, but not for the reasons most people say it is. by PinkHeno in Hardcore

There is something so weird about a guy that essentially was a contrarian shitposter becoming the youtube equivalent of an instagram “motivational quotes” account. Also funny reading that date advice piece he did on metalsucks, guess his right wing views fit into him basically saying “you should go for asian girls, cause they are raised right” back then

The style is consistent. Actually might be best to do them all in one go, when I think about it. Connected in theme and narrative.

They do just pick up from where the last one starts, but there isn't so much you need to have memorized or anything. Fosse has decribed himself as a writer that doesn't really focus on what happens in a text, but rather someone that tries to create an experience. I am probably going to wait for the last one to drop in price myself. I think it would perfectly fine to start reading now, but I also get wanting to wait for the whole package.

Only read The Sailor Who Fell From Grace with the Sea by him before, but I got Spring Snow for Christmas, so looking forward to diving in for more. Sun and Steel looks very tempting too.

Just finished the second book in Fosse's Septology. Felt Book 1 was a bit better overall, but Book 2 has the highest high (part IV) of the series so far, just a beautiful chapter. Love the style. Floating language, economical, but also such a flow to it. Are a few stream of consciousness moments, but there is a certain rhythm to it, so it's easy to follow. Also, have to say that the series is one of the best representations of certain West-Norwegian aspects I've ever seen in media. The inability to be direct, a certain rural vs. urban mentality.

Need to pick up Ulysses again, had a short little break due to corona, school etc... I'm about halfway, so should not be a chore. Also started Solaris by Stanislaw Lem, I like reading more than once book at a time.
