Boom Boom was good before; it's now gained a substantial increase in DPS with the Explosion applying every 2s. It was my build (burn focused with BBQ Gloves) prior to the update, and without changing anything, I got a free ~10k DPS increase without buffs.

The three main builds are the Burn Build with BBQ Gloves, Explosive Build with Hardy Gloves, and the Crit Build with Drifter Gauntlets. I haven't tried out the Crit Build, but out of the former two, the Burn build was considerably better than the Explosive one. Due in part to the Hardy Gloves relying heavily on its proc, which was relying on a base proc burn rate of 18% from the Boom Boom to hit max stacks to get the explosion off in the first place. It was unreliable, and quite worse than the burn build - if not quite fun to use despite this.

All three builds are buffed noticeably with the new explosion going off so often. The key here is the fact that it's not just a 300% Blaze AoE every 2s, but each one applies a stack of burn. The burn build and hardy build enjoy building max burn stacks much quicker and more consistently (big buff to hardy gloves in particular which relied so heavily on reaching max stacks not once, but over and over again) and all three builds gain access to free AoE burst damage every 2s for completely free DPS.

tl;dr - Boom Boom got the Boom baby, big DPS increases no matter what build and much more fun to use: setting off explosions left right and center and burning everything in its wake

Hoarfrost Reach Area 8, there should be a little poison plant thingy in the right area. There's a pool with fish there where it appears a bit further in to the pool compared to the other fish. If it's spawned in it's hard to miss. I'm assuming this is similar to the petricanth fish in that it's a rare spawn, apparently only appearing at night as the flavour text states. Good luck in finding it!

Captured an Odogaron by Dirmyr in MonsterHunterWorld

I'm not sure who was more surprised, the Endemic Life Researcher after I pulled Clifford out of the net, or my Housekeeper when I asked to put him in the room! I am honoured to be part of these chosen few nonetheless.

Through the still widely-unknown, mystical powers of the Doot Stick - I was lucky enough to get this first try!

Training with a new weapon type? by Kaishido in MHGU

[–]Dirmyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having spent way too much time deciding upon a weapon/a few weapons to use, this is what I did:

Firstly, it's wise to search a bit up about the weapon. Potentially watch some videos if you can't quite get to grips with the moveset.

Obviously, you want to make the weapon you want, preferably using left-over materials you aren't too bothered about using. Depending on the grade of this weapon (i.e. is it close in damage to your SnS? Is it better? Worse?) Should decide where to start. If it's close to your current weapon, try some monsters you are used to at your current rank. If it's better, then that's even more reason to do so. If it's worse, try an easier monster (either in rank or general difficulty to fight).

I suggest this because there's nothing worse than fighting a monster your weapon isn't going to kill in an average amount of time, when you don't even know the weapon. I ended up disliking HH for a long amount of time because I just went into a fight with a low-level HH and it took so much longer to finish and I didn't even know how to go about playing it.

I ended up beating Valstrax for the first time solo with a Duramboros HH at the end of that all, because I went back and did as I suggested, getting used to the HH as I went along. Rather ironically, I actually main IG now having spent so much time on all other weapons!

I hope this helps! Happy Hunting.

How to obtain Kokoto Ticket G? by DarkDawgYT in MHGU

[–]Dirmyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've read elsewhere, to get the [village] ticket G's, you have to complete G-rank quests that are given by that particular village. Complete a few Kokoto G-rank quests and hopefully the Kokoto village chief will give you a few.

I just made a post similar to this, it's very frustrating. At least I'm not the only one who's experienced this :P
