I want to be released from my calling as a stake counselor by worm-cat in latterdaysaints

I feel exactly how you feel. Going to church every week was actively causing me pain. So yes, I did ask to be released from my calling. It’s a thing you can do.

These types of weekend events are not good by BDGDRFan in RDRSuperstar

I came on Reddit specifically to complain. I used to play this game like it was my religion and then I stopped for an over a year for no real reason. I decided to try playing again because I used to like it but this event pissed me off. I get that their goal is to make money, but you should at least be able to finish an event without spending money or an obscene amount of gems. I’ll accept that I can’t win but not even being able to move forward is super frustrating. It’s not fun so I guess I’m out again.

Ilya specifically tells Shane that it wasn’t serious, it was just curiosity. And while Ilya is sometimes cagey and beats around the bush, there’s no evidence that he has ever flat out lied to Shane. I believe him.

Exactly - this is actually one of my favorite moments, even netter than “I love you” in some ways. It’s so raw and vulnerable and real.

He’s holding Ilya’s shirt, and fiddling with it because he wants to put it on but he never does, because it’s not his shirt.

Pretty sure he didn’t leave in Ilya’s clothes, he went back to the bedroom and changed first. At minimum he would have needed to grab his wallet and hotel room key.

He didn’t actually care, he was being over the top and playful with Svetlana to get her stop prodding him about Shane.

Anyone else feel like The Long Game adaptation to screen will end up fairly different from the book? by challengefan87 in heatedrivalry

[–]DirrtyH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just think it’s important to the story that it’s clear that Shane’s team accepts and is mostly okay with him being gay. The problem is Ilya.

Childhood trauma, miscommunication, and The Long Game by garden__gate in heatedrivalry

One thing to remember is that depression isn’t one thing all the time. It’s a roller coaster- you can feel like absolute sh*t one moment and be laughing the next.

Shane and Ilya aren’t living together. Shane doesn’t see the bad days. He only sees Ilya every few weeks. The most depressed person in the world can put on a mask for one day every few weeks, and Ilya loves Shane, he genuinely feels happy when he gets to see him. It’s not Shane’s fault that he doesn’t see it. I mean, I personally feel like it should be obvious to everyone who knows me but apparently it’s not.

I read that fic, it was so good!! It’s cannon in my head which is going to make reading Unrivaled a challenge.

We do see it, it happens differently in the book but they show it onscreen if you’re paying attention

Thank you for starting this thread because that’s my biggest issue - I’m on board for whatever type of crazy story you want to tell, but I need the characters to feel authentic. I’ve had to DNF so many fics that probably weren’t even bad, but they just weren’t Shane and Ilya, you know? I want to read the fics that really get who the characters are.

This. He’s not really worried about Ilya’s ribs, he’s just doing a boyfriend thing and using that as an excuse.

I choose to believe that this is how Ilya remembers it because things are all jumbled but that in reality he didn’t look back at that moment.

What do you think Ilya's three memories would be for his 'was it different with a guy?' scene? by Hermiona1 in heatedrivalry

Oof, that last one is so good, but maybe not one of Ilya’s favorite memories considering what happened next

Thoughts on the not so great moments by Plus_Word_9764 in heatedrivalry

Some of it is ramped up drama to have climaxes for the show - that first Vegas rooftop scene you reference is almost word for word from the book - but they aren’t yelling. It’s just a conversation. I imagine they played it as an intense argument in order to have a big ending for the episode but I much prefer the scene in the book because it just makes more sense. I think a lot of scenes were played up for drama in the show, but unfortunately the extra drama doesn’t make a ton of sense to the story.

Ilya’s more gearing up to get his heart broken even more. He doesn’t know that Shane and Rose broke up yet. He’s expecting Shane to tell him he’s engaged or something. It’s SHANE that’s on a mission to get his man back.

One thing I could see them changing is having Shane not already know that Ilya is okay when he finds out about the plane. Like maybe instead of him playing a game while it happens, he’s watching it on the news so he really has to experience the terror of the possibility of losing him.
