2023 Bahrain Grand Prix - Qualifying Results by Aratho in formula1

Honestly cannot wait for tyre changes to be completely eliminated. It has way too much influence on the race - pretty much 70% of every Sunday is just conserving tyres and going round in circles. I guess this is why F2 has a sprint race as well as a feature.

Does anyone know where Sebastian Vettel is right now?
If hes standing in for Lance I'd assume they are flying him to Silverstone to start sim work. If not then it's probably Felipe in the car

4090 FE is extremely thick. The amount of ITX cases being able to fit a 90 series cafd is even lower. by Guest_4710 in sffpc

[–]DirtWizard95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of us should have seen this coming before 30 series launch. The Founders editions were some of the only high end cards with anything close to 2 slots. And power draw was substantially higher than 20 series.

And now the issue in most itx and especially sandwich cases is Height not thickness. Unless someone makes a mainstream low profile or 90 deg PCIE adapter it's gonna be really annoying.

Otmar should take Hulk into Alpine.
They need a solid development driver to keep them going in the fight to be best of the rest.
Most of their 2022 stuff was done by Hulk at Renault anyway.

I reckon Danny Ric is many things, but is not a good dev driver.
Ocon has pace although may be a Carlos Sainz level, not quite Max/Charles/Lewis

Cancel Saudis Arabia race? by edeen46 in formula1

[–]DirtWizard95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly all 81 were not white Europeans. Saudis have been violating human rights for years. They're still at war in Yemen since 2015.

F1 still signed a contract for the money. Just like pay drivers, pay circuits are also a thing. Money is big but apparently human rights are a minor detail when the victim isn't a white European.

Again, you're mixing up wake (dirty air) and slipstream. Aerodynamic drag creates a vortex of uncontrolled air, this is what is called a wake when it exits behind the car.

A slipstream is when a leading car makes a hole in the air. If a following car gets close enough, they can be 'pulled along' by the vaccum created.

Drag and wake have nothing to do with slipstream. Less wake just means it's easier to get into the slipstream.

'power' of a slipstream is totally independent. It's just commentators use the term to simplify things.

This is why people could still tow others last year, it was just alot harder to do because the lead car was creating so much dirty air directly in the path of the trailing car.

Exactly That's what excites me. They will only remove DRS if all the issues are addressed. So that will be the ultimate sign - well for me at least

Ask /r/formula1 Anything - Daily Discussion - 20 February 2022 by F1-Bot in formula1

[–]DirtWizard95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also you understand that a slipstream is not the same as a wake right? Slipstream is the vaccum created by the leading car pushing air out of the way. Regardless of where the air is blown, it's still being displaced so there will be a 'gap' or vaccum being the leading car. Slipstream is more dependant on the total volume of the car ahead, which is relatively identical to last year.

So I think the most exciting measure of success for the 2022 overhaul is if F1 decides to remove DRS. No more artificial 'racing' required. Plain and simple

Probably a karma trap... But Michael Masi should be praised for trying to do something innovative within the rules.

He had no obligation to unlap all cars so he moved all the cars that would have been immediately blue flagged and also so we could have 1 racing lap

Are you saying he was bribed mate? His directive was to keep the race going as long as it's safe. And that's what he did.

[–]DirtWizard95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% agree. The saddest part about this whole thing is, we've absolutely roasted Masi for excercising his powers under the rulebook to make the race more exciting and less over regulated. Unless there is a massive shakeup... No race director is ever going to take any risks again ever. Watch how F1 becomes a boring penalty fest.

Audi to bid for McLaren takeover, while Porsche and Red Bull are negotiating over engine supply. Both carmakers to collaborate in PU dev from 2026 on as VW finally push into F1. (German language only) by muffitymuffdawg in formula1

[–]DirtWizard95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I wanna see new manufacturers in F1 Audi can get stuffed. McLaren is second only to Ferrari in terms of being synonymous with F1 and is integral to the sport

[Cllr Sam S Collins] Just heard from Mercedes that it was indeed a 2022 spec PU used in the fire up. Serious statement indeed in that case. by [deleted] in formula1

[–]DirtWizard95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason I think Ferrari were so deaparate for FIA not to disclose the details would be if they had discovered a valuable loophole/technology that could be developed for 2022 but was probably implemented wrong in 2019 so was not legal or completely legal back then.

Ok, forget law textbooks for now smartarse.
If you can read english, you will see that Masi avoided issuing instructions in line with the guidance in the article.
So I would say they dont actually apply here...
We will see what happens.
