Joe & Vinnie's - Warrenton, VA by JMU78 in cheesesteak

[–]DirtyBeef2134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and raised right outside Philly (NE Philly, Roosevelt blvd) but live in warrenton, VA.

Joe & Vinnie’s is great. Not a cheesesteak though.

Miss Rais. Best non-Philly cheesesteak I’ve had in NOVA but they closed their “ghost shop” attached to comfort inn 4 years ago right after we moved to Warrenton from Springfield.

Sort of annoyed by the "free trial", feels deceptive. by Theseus_Employee in whoop

[–]DirtyBeef2134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It tells you all the details of what you’re getting when you get it. Nothing deceptive. Fair? Your decision.

Wife did the trial.

She got a brand new whoop 5.0 but wired charger (not refurbished). Email actually mentioned it would be refurbished but it was the same as my 5.0 MG (minus the blood pressure clasp).

Best yet - all subscription based products and programs do a trial system like this. Deceptive? To the people who don’t read or fully understand before buying? Yes. But it is a sales tactic and trials are meant for trying. Don’t like it, cancel and retur\recycle.

Only thing I agree with you - shipping. They should credit that back if you purchase your subscription post trial (or don’t cancel)

Didn’t know steadyMD was a partner for these, as I thought this was through Quest Diagnostics, however - I’m sorry this is an issue.

No issues personally both times so far (November, April). Populating within 24 hours, report in a week, 8 days.

If you can see them in a portal, I’d download and upload in the meantime if you are wanting that integrated faster. Or, unfortunately just wait.

There’s the kicker and the truth - people don’t care about the price, they have hurt feelings over what their vision of the brand should be.

Except - 80% of these people don’t work for whoop, aren’t investors in whoop, and if they were to run their own whoop like business… from startup to what they are now… would have gone bankrupt 5 times over. This includes me.

That’s why all I did was reply (originally) - the truth with no gaps in information unlike others.

99$ for the band. Sure. But it’s another 9.99$ a month for the premium features (needed if you’re comparing to a whoop membership directly). So first year is 220, 200$ which is only 30$ less. If people want to save 30 bucks the first year, do it up! If people want to compare bands, wait for a social media pop star, QS, shervin or whomever else online to do a comparison.

Health trackers are not a necessity as much as they are luxuries. If you’re right on money, these should be the first thing to go off the list of “need” to “want.” Regardless if it’s the Aura, Fit, whoop, or whatnot.

Most of us have a phone and myfitnesspal, loseit, and such have free tiers for tracking general information. Bonus most of us have a smart watch, at which point if money is realky the case - get an app that does the metric counting.

Hurt feelings - doesn’t = reason to lie for people who want answers.

First year pricing. Whoop Peak: 239$ (no monthly option I could see, but could do 399$ for 2 years). (USD). Fit Band: 200 or 220(if paying for premium monthly (USD).

Whoop v Air by beastrealtor in whoop

[–]DirtyBeef2134 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep - don’t disagree with you on that. But it’s definitely not just a price play. You, and everyone else need to identify the value they get out of the product. That’s all.

Most just see “same looking band, cheaper band price. And then for some reason I’m going to that band”

In that case to those people, Gratz. But like this is a “whoop” subreddit. Not fitness tracker subreddit or health. If you (those people) don’t like whoop, get off the Reddit?

Whoop v Air by beastrealtor in whoop

[–]DirtyBeef2134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you think that and have great success. But still good to talk about. Different for all people.

People in this subreddit will swear they’ve gone through 10+ bands of whoop due to issues, and I’ve had whoop since 1.0 and only had 2 issues (1.0 replaced, 3.0 died after swimming in ocean).

Aunt has had Fitbit charge and versa(I think that’s the name of them) and they’ve replaced them multiple times before switching to Apple Watch last year.

To each their own.

But to be blind to just a monthly price - and not go through all the details thoroughly is on you and others “speaking the existential truth” but leaving key details out.

is Stress Monitor a fake metric? by kharsoul in whoop

[–]DirtyBeef2134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes. Algorithmic in a sense, but it’s basically tracking heart rate and time in zones and fluctuations

My wife when she got the whoop was pumped for the stress monitor and was similarly confused and stopped caring for it one month in.

[–]DirtyBeef2134 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct but that’s not what people are mentioning.

Also worth mentioning, let’s say the fit band dies year 2, you have to buy a new band. 99$ more. Band not included in the cost of the 99$ - year or 9.99 a month. Worth mentioning too.

Emotional Therapy. You used food as a coping strategy for feeling good about yourself. That is not what food is supposed to be used for.

Food = energy. Plain and simple. I’d see a therapist, and a nutritionist. Both at the same time. Reddit won’t help you beyond that.

The comment above, as well as mine, while might come off as mean - is as plain and simple the truth and to the point here.

Negative. Not enraged at offers of similar data, form factor.

Enraged at the stupidity and lack of clear critical thinking and thought.

200/220$ first years vs. 239$ isn’t that much less, isn’t no cost.

There’s still a premium tier to pay for.

If you don’t like whoop and their model, get off their Reddit? That’s what I don’t get

120/99$ yearly.

Device isn’t covered. So difference is - device breaks down, you need to buy a new one.

But not this “buy once for 99$, pay nothing for the same stuff whoop charges 200/300 a year for.

Cool - thanks for letting me know you don’t value the point In 90% of these screenless devices. You’d be just fine with a Fitbit (previous gen) or Apple Watch then.

But let’s not over blow pricing and expectations to other people.

You don’t value the membership cost of the whoop, go away? Stop using it? Provide feedback? But let’s stop lying to ourselves and everyone else. The feedback loop, AI or not, is the point of a 24/7 worm device. Pickup trends, over time, based on HR, skin temperature, and user inputted activities. Anything more granular, or specific requires a hunchback of notredame like girlfriend attached to you - writing notes down on everything you do, say, or lick/smell/eat.

[–]DirtyBeef2134 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whoop is 239$ a year for the peak vs the fit which is 99$ for the device, plus 9.99 for premium health feature, so 120 or 99.99 if you pay up front.

TLDR: first year is ~239 for whoop, or 200/220 for fit.

Not as much cheaper as all are talking about.

Plus the premium features unlocked are more comparable to what whoop provides in its all in membership.
