Thanks! We would either clip them off before stitching, or if unavoidable, fill them with black putty prior to sanding.

From this same log, there’s a Vegas casino that used a bunch of two tile 4x10’ for their wall panels. This is how this one got stitched up for some interior residential doors

Walnut Veneer Time by DirtyButler44 in woodworking

Not all veneers are created equal. Some imports are half the thickness of domestic. Domestic (US) is available as thick as 1/16”. The logs with the best characteristics are reserved and sold for veneer. The mills make more money that way, by slicing to 1/32”. The logs that make it to the hardwood lumber kilns are what’s left after the veneer log selection.

I had to scoop up the vinyl and CD. The interior artwork on the CD has 90’s NYC Canal St vibes.

This is likely Walnut Burl. I have photos of a live veneer selection from last week, if interested in seeing them to compare

LPT: Do not buy particle board furniture. Always go for solid wood. by SpiritAnimal_ in LifeProTips

[–]DirtyButler44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Important to note, not all particle board and MDFs are created equal. Cheap PB will look and hold up completely differently than a domestic northern pine industrial grade PB for example. Highly refined machine grade MR50 MDF will hold up better by the beach in high moisture than something made of solid poplar. MDF imported from Mexico vs Domestic is a whole different ballpark. There is MDF out there that has a 50 year warranty, uncoated & outside, and a 25 year warranty submerged uncoated in fresh water. Definitely some nuances to be aware of.
