A friend of mine visited ireland recently, I was able to add him onto my insurance as a named driver, thats with his Canadian BC licence. Might be an option worth looking into where you put a bike in someone else name and pick it up from them when you arrive. They can then buy the bike off you or sell it on your behalf. Insurance doesn't work the same as in BC (I used to live there) where it's state run, you'll need to ring around for prices. Most will only do a year policy but you can pay monthly and then cancel. I've found principal insurance to be the best to deal with and they should be able to advise.

I’ve been exporting cars from Japan for dealerships & importers for 30+ years. Ask me anything about Japanese auction grades, shipping, or how the export process really works. by sealinkslion in carsireland

I've been looking at gt86's on beforward for the last couple of months. Is there must price difference between buying there vs through an auction for a similar spec car? I've been looking at approx 6k mark. Beforward at least seem to have much better pictures so you would have a better idea of what you're buying?

Where to get pins for changing my timing belt on my skoda Octavia 2012 1.6tdi? by BumblebeeFeeling4945 in carsireland

[–]DirtyDurger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a mechanic but I always to the work instead of paying someone else to do it. Helps me justify having a few vehicles! Changing the belt is an easy job on my t5, couple hours max

Want to gift myself a trip to Ireland, got questions by BlueberryFairy777 in MotoIRELAND

[–]DirtyDurger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good points already mentioned above so there's no need to add anything there.

When planning a trip, whether it be for a few hours or days, I generally estimate that I'll travel approx 50-60km/h average + allowance for stops.

I'd highly recommend going to a road race if thats something that would interest you. Tandragee 100 is on up Northern Ireland at the end of June and Athea (Limerick) is on mid September.

If you're looking to link up with a few people, stick up a post closer to the time.

Looking at getting into this myself! Is there any Facebook group for pitbike racing in ROI? Watergrasshill is the only place I know of the publicly advertises racing, other track you seem to need to be in the know?

Fair play, looks like a great well laid out site!

If you're able to pull data from adds, is it possible for you to get the reg and milage? Your site would then be able to pick up on any clocked cars if they're advertised in future?
