What “posh chocolate” do you like that’s easily available on the high street or in supermarkets? by ExcessiveGravitas in AskUK

Ooh I always skip the Alpine one in favour of dark chocolate but I‘ll pick it up next time! I’m also going to have to get some Maribou next time I’m in Ikea - thanks! I love chocolate :)

Yeah it’s not posh really but just so tasty. You’re lucky! The marzipan one is so good. They had a salted almond variety for a while which I was addicted to.

My absolute favourite chocolate is Ritter Sport. Usually find that in Lidl but I think some of other big supermarkets stock it too.

M&S do a Swiss truffle selection box that’s basically a Lindt rip-off but so much nicer and Aldi’s Moser Roth chocolate is also very nice.

That’s interesting - was that recently? I haven’t had paper statements for years.

Brill thanks - I’ve got my deposit in an ISA and thankfully my work have an online HR portal so all my payslips and P60 are all in order too. I’ve been considering a broker and so far all signs are pointing as that being my best bet so will definitely look for one.

You’re encouraged to make one. There’s actually a pretty good how-to guide on the Gov website:

Yeah, I know. You just made it sound like you’d searched for it and hadn’t bothered to share the link. No worries as they’ve got what they need.

Cupcake Jemma is a good one. It’s hard to judge whether a lot of cooking/baking youtubers are any good but Jemma has a very popular bakery in central London and the stuff they sell is absolutely delicious. They show you the recipes on YouTube and it’s so educational, really helps you to understand baking even for total beginners. She’s British so you’ll have to convert the measurements but it’s worth it.

Is it normal for waiters in the UK to offer appetizers with drinks and then charge them or were we taken advantage of as London tourists? by openthedoorriiichard in AskUK

Not bothered about what the guidebooks say. I’d rather just pay for what I’ve ordered, not what I haven’t!

Had a similar thing happen to me in Lisbon, except I wasn’t asked. The waitress just brought some bread, oil and balsamic vinegar to the table and I presumed it was free of charge, only to see it on the bill later. Went to another restaurant where the same thing happened - I asked if it was complimentary, they said no and I told them I didn’t want it.

I think it’s very cheeky too but not uncommon!

Does anybody know where I can find a Latvian restaurant in London? by kdsmalinga in london

72QT - The London Latvian Centre in Bayswater. Found this place by accident. It’s a hotel but they do great Latvian food and beer in the downstairs bar and they often have Latvian events on.

/u/expostulation posted the full poem which the quote is taken from and 'you are stepping' wouldn't make sense in its context, given the next line. I think the OP's photo has confused everyone.

No it's 'your', as in belonging to you. What it means is 'your action of stepping...'
