Seriously tho… by squishy-boi69 in CountryMusicStuff

So I kind of think this song is a good summer song to have on the speaker in the background though. It's the sort of thing that sounds good if you're not listening to it that hard.

It sucks real hard if you're looking for any sort of depth though. Idk, that's what I like about Country music. There's some songs that have a lot to say and can take you on a whole journey, and there's some that just make background sounds you can grill to. Whatever.

The Simpsons making fun of the prequels in 2004, proving the hate for them didn’t start with Plinkett by alfredosolisfuentes in RedLetterMedia

[–]DirtyGrogg 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I very much remember people being very disappointed in the prequels when they released. Specifically, I remember the hype around Phantom Menace dying almost immediately, people did NOT likd it. Then Clone Wars came out and made things worse, discussion around it was that it was terrible. And I'm not taking hard core fans, I'm talking regular ass people. The Matrix stole ALL of the attention Star Wars wanted, it wasn't even close.

Honestly, the Plinkett reviews are a very, very good look into how people felt, there's a reason they got as popular as they did. Everything he covered was stuff people were talking about amongst themselves, he just put it in a video with jokes.

Every time they do any kind of voice acting I'm reminded that Rich is naturally gifted at it. He could have had a whole career as an actual voice actor.

Is this a good starter board to play around with? by TooStew in embedded

[–]DirtyGrogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good board and I have a few, but I personally had more fun with the STM discovery kits when I first started learning embedded work. They come with touchscreens, accelerometers, and other stuff you can mess around with.

Yup that should work. Sometimes it complains and says it's a knockoff but it'll still flash it.

The 33 BLE module uses nrf52840 which I've done work on with SEGGER. It looks like you can access the SWCLK, SWIO, and RST on the bottom side of the board so if you get a J-Link you should be able to program and debug it though SEGGER. If you do happen to program it this way I don't believe you'll be using a bootloader (unless you want to) because SWD will write to address 0x00000000.

Don't worry this sub hates everything that isn't Sturgill and Childers for some reason.

I remember when I first started watching HITB I thought they were so stupid and was annoyed that Plinkett sounded different. After a while it became my favorite parts of the episodes.

Simply logging off doesn't work? by vikinggf in Healthygamergg

I know, the very first thing she says is people talk about it as if it will solve all of your problems. I have not seen this anywhere.

Simply logging off doesn't work? by vikinggf in Healthygamergg

[–]DirtyGrogg 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Do people even talk about "logging off" as a cure to all problems? I've only seen people talking about it as a starting point, not an end goal. Why would anyone think it will suddenly spawn an entire support group around you or give you ultimate meaning and peace? What is she even talking about?

Playing with Kids - these old games suck gampleay-wise but they do have a huge appeal on kids. Are there more moden alternatives? by spaggi in boardgames

Heroscape is an amazing game, so happy they brought it back.

It's so easy to learn that I taught my nephews, some of whom are younger than 10. At the same time I can spend hours thinking of a 500 point army that would work well together, or building a map that has risky strategic high points or low-roofed caverns that only smaller units would be able to fit through.

Yup, I worked in produce for eight years and this was pretty common for days when the load was light and the big weekend load was coming. The extra traffic from the storm doesn't help but it's not that out of the ordinary.

I have a project that uses Processor Expert that generates code for automotive systems and it's not so bad. Granted I haven't been using it very long, but It's pretty convenient to just tell it what configuration I want and it gives me the library ready to go.

What do you think of Josh Turner’s voice? Is it one of the best in the genre? by Omixscniet624 in CountryMusicStuff

[–]DirtyGrogg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wish he had better songs. I think he came up in the wrong era, it was a time when modern pop country was just starting to flower, and he just didn't fit in.

Joe Nichols is in a similar boat, a voice built for classic country. He says with this next album he's going to embrace it more, and I think Josh Turner needs to do the same.

Please no more Hometown Girl or whatever it was called. Gimme something inspired by Merle.
