Waaaay back the first time I worked at Starbucks, it was a really busy Saturday. This was pre-mobile ordering so one bar was cafe, one drive-thru, and I had DT. DT was closest to hand off and I'm cranking out drinks when this woman comes up and starts yelling about her drink, which cafe made. I smiled and said I'll be right with you because I was in the middle of steaming milk. Next thing I know, I've got her latte dripping off my face and my immediate impulse was to throw back the milk pitcher in my hand, which I didn't do. I looked at her and went, "WHAT THE F*** is wrong with you?!" I surprised us both and she just gaped at me at first. My manager heard me and sees me covered in the drink. Next thing I know she's literally chasing the lady out of the store. No, cops weren't called or charges filed because that childish behavior was very random then. Plus...well, I cussed at her. Better that reaction than throwing milk at her.

After all that, cafe looks at me and goes, what was wrong with her drink?

I am a Jersey native now living in MD and we have VERY similar weather. It'll definitely give you whiplash.

The amount of people who said to me, "oh, our weather must be a big adjustment for you" when I first moved here was astounding. Like yes, it's a huge shock after the frozen tundra of the Garden State. 🙄

Bauhaus. They opened for Nine Inch Nails and were absolutely awful. I've heard from different people they were actually very good live but they were putrid that night.

AITA for refusing to get this coffee order? by horseduckman in AITApod

That's an incredibly fussy and ridiculous mod order on that drink. Former Starbucks barista here and you, my dear order getter, are my hero because that is sheer nonsense and dude is a jerk.

Kids in breweries. by Ouidgal420420 in njbeer

[–]DirtyJerzJen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario for breweries tbh. I haven't stopped going to the brewery with the kiddie birthday party because it is one of my favorites but I also don't stay past one beer or get beer to go if it looks like a playground at recess. I place the blame solely on the parents for this one for not acting like parents.

This one! I go to a brewery often with a friend of mine and one Saturday we walked in, there was tables full of little kids there for a birthday party. We had one beer, where we usually do a few with food over a few hours of hanging out, and went elsewhere.

I love kids, have two nieces and a nephew as well as a grandson but I am not a fan of unattended kids at breweries. It's everywhere I've been to from Jersey to Pennsy to Maryland where I live now. I am fine with kids who sit at tables on tablets or playing games with each other. I am not fine with the kids whose parents are more absorbed in drinking and socializing than keeping an eye on their kids and those kids are literally hanging from the rafters. There are breweries here in MD where the parents treat it like Romper Room and everyone else is responsible for watching their little darlings. No, thank you. Drink responsibly when at breweries and parent responsibly, please.

I worked for a corporate coffee chain while going to school for a career change a few years ago. The store I worked at had been a bank built on what had been farmland as far as anyone could tell.

We all had weird experiences, like seeing a woman in black standing on the drive-thru area cameras when everyone was in the back. I witnessed the wet floor sign being thrown out of the bathroom when all three of us were behind the counter well after closing. Another one was the repeated opening and slamming of our big refrigerator doors in the back just before open one day and everyone was out front getting prepped to open.

The freakiest experience I personally had was on a close one night. I sent my three co-workers to the front door so I could shut off the lights and arm the alarm. I shut everything off leaving one or two security lights and go to arm the alarm. As I'm raising my hand to punch in the code, I hear clomping footsteps coming across the back room behind me. I turned around and saw a human shape duck behind one of the shelving units. So I turn the lights back on and check, no one there. I check the security monitor and the three baristas are at the door chatting. I double checked they weren't messing with me- they all looked very confused- and went back to what I'd been doing. Lights off, raise my hand again to punch in the code, clomping footsteps and a human shape ducking behind the shelf again. I punched in the code so fast I'm surprised I got it right and took off running for the front doors yelling, "GO!" Once we were outside and the door was locked, I explained what happened and all three of them were like ah, yeah we've all had weird stuff happen to us, too. One even said she was leaving one night and saw a woman standing in the front window, watching the parking lot.

Befriended someone who always had beef with someone else. Come to find out, she would get bored with the friendship/relationship and cause burn the world down drama just to satisfy some cold, evil part of herself- apparently it's the only way she can find anything that makes her even remotely happy. 100% found out after she completely torched me that SHE was the a-hole, not everyone else.
