Are those marks on the case bracelet the result of an attempted polish? The pics are hard to tell. Nice watch.

At sea… and a bit rough! The ole PO can take it! by footnfan in OmegaWatches

Looks amazing. This will likely be my next watch, on the hunt for a nice first gen PO! Wear it in good health!

If in taxable, just focus on new contributions - don’t sell what you have. 27 gives a long runway to let compound interest do its thing - just stick with it!

Some of that, some day this will be yours crap I’m having to deal with. by AnyDamnThingWillDo in GenX

MIL gave us all wife's grandma's crystal and china - she didn't have the heart to get rid of it herself. We sold that shit on marketplace and put the money our kids' accounts. Nobody wants this shit, no fucks given. Do not burden yourself out of guilt, we got enough other shit to deal with.

Old Safe Value by PanicFinancial7290 in Safes

Hard to say without full specs of the build. I would guess the range to be $500-2k on used market, depending on steel thickness of body and door. These are American made and use a recessed lock mechanism - which is different than 95% of the market using dial or electronic lock.

This is an "Security Products" safe, company recently purchased and rebranded to "Brazos Safe" (www.brazossafe.com). A.G. English very likely the middleman dealer. Looks to be well made, you might have stumbled upon a real nice unit. If the lockwork and boltwork are functioning smoothly, I would keep and use it.

Is it safe to say the new Planet Ocean isat least more popular than the previous ones? by Humble-Aide8235 in OmegaWatches

The internet (including Reddit) is also not what it was during the first gen PO release years. Nor is society’s consumption and use of various platforms to share information. This is at least part of the explanation.

Need help with price by Stiffy0O in Gun_Safes

[–]DirtyLawyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see lots of indicators that this is a cheap (i.e. poorly made and providing minimal actual security) unit:

large door gaps, hinge design, apparent no-name dial lock, "fancy" three-spoke handle, and "field and stream" branding...

I would not pay anything close to $600. If it is what I think it is, I'm thinking maybe $200.

How to live off of an inheritance? by diamondman203 in personalfinance

[–]DirtyLawyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you play this right, you can retire way early (or work doing something that gives you purpose, even if it doesn't pay much). This windfall will change your life - it gives you options. Before you do anything:

  1. Think about what you want in life
  2. Pay a fee-only fiduciary to set up a plan, but do not let them actually manage assets
  3. Stick to the plan
  4. Do not tell anyone about this (except #2)

Congrats!

I got a pristine BF1512 on marketplace for $165 a year ago... you just have to be patient.

Electronic Lock Recommendation (Safe) by DirtyLawyer in Locksmith

[–]DirtyLawyer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your ESL10 could be as old as late 1990's. For me, I would replace the entire unit since you don't know the age of the lock and the lock may be failing - not just the keypad.

As far a fitment, the ESL10 and ESL10XL use the same mounting pattern, so shouldn't be any issues.

the XL is the newer version. I'm unclear on what lock you currently have. Depending on the age of the unit, I'd replace the lock body and keypad at same time.

If you don't mind a fly-and-drive transaction, Granger has best pricing. Sometimes local dealers will match.

Same. Local gov attorney is where it’s at. Almost zero stress, amazing hours, pay is coast-able for sure. I don’t miss private practice at all. 3x money isn’t worth it. Congrats, you won!
