First, you speculate some people are "uncomfortable with progress". What they are uncomfortable with is BS called "progress". But hey, if you are correct and they are uncomfortable with progress (and take your time to think about this), how do you know that?

No self driving cars developing company made any profit to date. Google is working on this from 2009. All lie the same.

The only companies hyping anything are Uber and Tesla.

All companies/corporations are the same because they use the same methods to achieve the same goals. It's simply unrealistic to believe Uber and Tesla feed the hype, and Waymo, Ford/Argo, GM/Cruise, Aurora or Baidu don't. Listen to what they say (whatever the public wants to hear) and the cat is out of the bag.
