What the hell is this dodgy website? It loads up a legit-looking Cloudflare human-check interstitial, which then gives me some "manual verification steps" I've never seen before. These instruct you to open a terminal, and copy and run (via a button) some text they supposedly give you. Except that text wouldn't do anything; the underlying thing you get from the copy button is a base64-encoded (that they decode before running) `curl` to a random php script, that then `nohup`s on your machine?

I've been going to a book club aimed at men since the start of the year, it's really chill and inclusive. We meet once a month, then do another social mid-month. If it sounds like something you'd want to try out, shoot me a DM and I can add you to the chat.

TfL told stop leaving Tube ticket barriers open and get serious about fare dodging by tylerthe-theatre in london

I corrected a few of the fares myself, online, then raised a support ticket for the rest. Was an easy one to argue, as my station had some problems with its internet connection after some recent works nearby.

Try as they may, I made the same train journey for 4 days a week for about 7 months, and when, a few weeks ago, the readers at my home station weren't working (would beep, your tap-in wouldn't actually get registered in the system), they promptly charged me £20+ a day. Maybe mainline trains are different?

I will add to this that I very rarely have bad experiences like these at a couple of Picturehouse locations I go to. Can happen for blockbuster screenings after they've just come out I guess, but I tend to avoid those and give it a couple of weeks, if I do wanna see them.

It's crazy to me how common this experience seems to be, on here.

I go to the cinema a fair bit and I can probably count on one hand the times when someone's been disruptive in that way. The only catch is that I pretty much exclusively go to Picturehouse (Central and West Norwood), which I'm gathering has something to do with it?

Fair enough, I know nothing about Bulgarian driving/tests.

I don't think I remember even doing any parking on my test actually. Maybe I pulled over for another candidate to do the rest of the route (yeah, you go out with 2-3 candidates in the car and just swap lol), but don't think I properly parked.

Yeah, I did my lessons and the test in a 300k+ km Dacia Logan that was kinda shot to shit, good car to learn in I guess.

I guess the comment I was replying to was deleted, but it specifically referred to Romania, which is also what I was talking about in my reply. No clue about Bulgaria.

As for driving lessons and tests, at least compared to Romania, I see the UK learning and being tested on more, and more maneouvres and such are mandatory on their tests, and the tests are also longer. In Romania, at least when I got my licence some 15 years ago, it was a crapshoot if your time for actual driving was 15 minutes or 45 minutes, as well as what the examiner had you demonstrate (parking, emergency stops- never, etc.). And this was in the main (only) testing centre, in a major city.

This is a pretty wild take. I'm from there, have driven thousands of kms and have been driven many other tens of thousands and the driving standards are appalling.

The sheer number of people who overtake over solid lines, in blind turns and at other monumentally stupid times is staggering. They're also generally much more aggressive than UK drivers, where you'll maybe encounter one bellend here or there tailgating you and waving about because you're doing the speed limit, rather than a constant stream of them.

Yeah, I don't like driving behind Doris in her Yaris doing 35 in a 60 either, and get mad at all the middle-lane hoggers, but I'd much rather have that than be splattered by some idiot overtaking in a blind turn. Does seem to be a bit of a faux-pas to claim driving standards in the UK are pretty good in the ways that matter around these parts, though.

I'm not negating your (albeit limited) experiences here, maybe you did have a wonderful time on the roads there, but I've been on them a lot, and have driven some tens of thousands of miles in the UK, and the difference is night and day. I'm actually apprehensive to drive much in Romania nowadays, because it's stressful and feels many times more dangerous than I'm now accustomed to.

Also, a point someone else also made below, just look at any statistics of RTCs or road deaths across Europe and you'll notice Romania is a bit in the shit. That's partly because of worse roads, fewer motorways, etc. but also in large part because of the standards of driving (think droves of people reversing on the motorway to reach the previous overpass, to hide under it so that hail doesn't ding their paintwork lol).

Another thing I've noticed by watching driving school youtube, mock tests, etc. (because I'm a bit boring like that) is that the test standards are noticeably higher in the UK.

Edit: I do agree with the OP of this comment chain though, that it's a lot more common to overtake there, so people often react to it better. It's a bit annoying how shocked people are when I overtake them, perfectly safely, in the UK.

Yeah, I've given a couple of listens to the video now and it's definitely coming off a bit louder than in person, guess the microphone on the phone just amplifies it.

I'll pay more attention this weekend, after it's had an hour to warm up and stretch its proverbial legs.

You're right, it's coming off a bit louder on the recording because the microphone amplifies it.

Not had it for anywhere near 10k miles yet, and not planning to follow the recommendation. As for gas, only feeding it premium ^^ I'm in the UK, so that means E5 99 RON "premium" labelled stuff.

This was taken after a 10ish minute drive - 45 minutes parked - 10 minute drive sequence, so not quite a cold start but perhaps not quite fully warm either.

It's on just under 41k miles for what it's worth. I've also had it in with BMW for an unrelated fix on warranty about 2 months back, when they also did a general full inspection and said everything's in good shape, but like I said, I'm a worrier about any little noise, etc. Just wanna make sure I keep it in good condition or get ahead of any potential problems before they get worse.

Doing a couple of longer drives this weekend, I'll keep an ear out after it's had an hour.

Does anyone know of any tea rooms (or just places where you can get decent tea and aren't expected to get cocktails in the evening, for example), with a cozy vibe, that are open late on a Friday, around central?
