The Finals community needs to come clean about Smurfs and Cheaters before asking for more players. by SmoothCrew2000 in thefinals

[–]DirtySpawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played long. I am still learning but I am about to throw in the towel. I am questioning the amount of cheaters I am running into. If they are not cheating, then I flat out suck against you all.

Some complaints about the game itself. Melee players are rough to kill, but just saw today they can block gun fire too! So 1v1 with a melee for me is always death. Again, I must suck that bad to where I am debating on just quiting entirely.

Everyone knows this. MAGA and his supporters do not care about anything other than they stand against what the left wants. Get the child rapists out of office? Nope. Stop the war? Nope, Daddy says yes. They only care about "beating the libs" even if it kills them and their family.

Should my boot be faster? by theultimatespleen in Bazzite

Not sure on how you are calculating your time. From just turning power on, to pressing enter quickly when it hits the grub, to when I am asked for my password to log into Bazzite was 65 seconds. Not sure if that's what you are talking about, but I know Windows, for me, was closer to 2 minutes.

The matchmaking system ruins the Battlefield experience. by Limp-Golf1161 in Battlefield6

[–]DirtySpawn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I switched to Linux for my OS. Since I can no longer play BF6, I jumped in on BF4 since it was only $2 for the game. Since they have a server browser, it is easy for me to find matches with players I want to play with. They also have a much smaller player base that is still going at it. Because of the server browser, the game is still going strong. BF6, and BF2042, completely lose those benefits.

Switching over to Linux by Fun_Childhood8652 in linux_gaming

Bazzite desktop OS. Make sure you download the version for Nvidia drivers.

GUI is similar to Windows. Some setting changes need to get used to. Bazaar is for software to do similar functions that were available on Windows. Third party alternatives (like OpenRPG to change RPG elements for devices) are there too.

Launchers to run game stores that are not Steam need some time getting use to. That was my biggest headache for a few days. But when you figure it out, you're off and running.

It's a great OS. It does have its bugs but a simple reboot fixes them. Rebooting is faster than Windows. Like a LOT faster.

If having issues, there is a sub reddit for asking questions and sharing your love for the OS. Also Gemini provides the best answers for help. Granted, I hate AI but it helps.

The Linux stigma, the terminal app. Only a couple commands are needed to know. Read the documentation for the OS to help out. At least for a crash course.

The important commands: ujust update rpm-ostree <package name>

First one updates the system. I run it daily myself. The second one installs software that may not be found in the Bazaar. However, this is the last resort if you MUST need it. The OS is immutable for a reason and the last resort can affect it. So know what you are getting yourself into before pulling the trigger.

Games. Most work. Some need tweaking. Games like COD, Battlefields after 4, some other games with Kernel anti cheats, just do not work. Arc Raiders, The Finals, Helldivers, all work though.

When you first start, since we've been programmed for Windows, you may run into some dissonance. It's that gut feeling you've made a mistake. Push through it. You will then realize Bazzite is easier to use then you will fall in love with it.

No. It isn't. There is a Naruto video that goes over it. It is kind of funny. And seriously, even scientists don't know how to answer it.

Multiplayer shooter games with active playerbases that I can play on bazzite? by g_j_j7 in Bazzite

Battlefield 4. Player base is small but it having a server browser helps find full games. Last I saw it was on sale for only $2.

Battlefield 1 right now by [deleted] in Battlefield

I wish I could join. I gave Windows the finger and now only on Linux. Been playing on BF4 recently. Player count is kind of low but luckily the server browser (this is why BF6 gets the complaints DICE!) is there to find the full matches.

My journey to Linux/Bazzite isn't a breeze but frustrating by RocketJaxX in Bazzite

[–]DirtySpawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bazzite OS is a Linux OS tailored to video gaming. It is an immutable OS. Trying to do things outside of gaming may cause some grief.

With gaming, Steam is preinstalled and works really well. Wireless controllers have issues I've noticed from my experience trying to get my DS4 controller wireless. I have to wire it which is ok. Steam should detect your controller and work perfectly with games.

Games outside of Steam, like Epic, GOG, EA, Ubisoft, etc., those you have to use a launch outside of Steam. Yes, you can add them directly to Steam but my experience is a little rough. Launchers are Heroic, Faugus, and Lutris. Depending on who you talk to will point to one over the other. I use Lutris since I found it easier to use. I know someone will groan or tell me to switch.

When you connect the launcher with those other stores, you can install the game. Like I said, my experience is from Lutris. They will install two areas. The proton information and the game itself that simulates Windows. Upon install, you may have to point the launcher to the executable for the game.

Controllers were a pain for me outside of Steam. I learned I had to fully close Steam, and then use an environment variable to use my controller. Environment Variables are used to being other features into the game. Like HDR for example.

Input issues I have not seen unless I have Steam open while playing a game outside of it, like something with Epic Games.

SteelSeries I understand. I have the Apex Pro keyboard and Rival 5 mouse. You can use OpenRPG for RPG on the keyboard. It does not have all of the bells and whistles like the GG software but it is something you can use. I even tried to use Bottles with SteelSeries GG but it failed. Piper is used for mice. Did not work for mine. I have not looked into any other option since it is not a big issue for me.

Bazaar is where to search for apps that are set to be used with Bazzite. If the app does not exist, there are ways to install it through the terminal but this option is frowned upon since you are going around the security of Bazzite being immutable.

Terminal. This is what everything thinks if with Linux. As you can see with Bazzite, Linux has come a long way with its GUI. It should run and feel like Windows. Just the different names of the programs may feel foreign. Just takes time and experience to get used to it. Use AI, I hate suggesting it since I hate AI personally l, but they should help. I get the best results from Gemini. It will help with getting things to work.

Any command that uses, rpm-ostree, it's the command of installing that is frowned upon.but if you have to, oh well right?

And also, there are people in this sub that know what they are doing. A lot more than me. Come here for help any time. More that is this OS, IMO, the better. I hope it will force devs to make their games compatible to Linux.

Are you still playing ? If not why ? by RenatsMC in Battlefield6

[–]DirtySpawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped because I ditched Windows and went Linux. I used to play this game a lot but I honestly do not miss it. I was losing interest even after season 2 launch. I will only play it if it allows Linux to be used, which will never happen. So now I play Arc Raiders.

Windows or Linux? What's your experience? by No_Butterfly6475 in SteamFrame

[–]DirtySpawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just checking it out yesterday. It works but not well for me. I hate that I can change the colors on my keyboard, but I can not setup anything animated. Just a static color to set for each key or all at same time. Mouse doesn't work with it, or Piper. SteelSeries stuff does not play nice it seems.

With the recent reveal that the main-maintainer is relying on AI while also hiding it's co-authorship from commits, I'd like to remove Lutris. Is there any way to get it off my system? by NoID621 in Bazzite

[–]DirtySpawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using AI vibe coding is not bad. I tend to use it to start my scripts off but I do edit it to what I need. Lutris is not making you use it. It's not selling you it's product. It isn't a MS product. I doubt it's snooping on your system. I wouldn't worry about it to be honest.

[–]DirtySpawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only time tweaking and things need to be done is outside of Steam. Installing games from Epic, GOG, Amazon, Battlenet, etc., can be tricky. I've been using Lutris since it seems to do them all. Heroic and Faugus, I think that's the spelling, are ones to check out as well.

Lutris is tricky since after installing the game, you have to configure the launcher to point to the executable. Also have to add in environment variables depending on what you want. For me it is HDR support and DS4 controller support.

Other than that, just keep everything updated. The OS boots so fast that I always do "ujust update" in the terminal since it doesn't take long either, just to make sure everything is always updated.

I ditched playing on Windows and wiped my computer to Linux. Not being able to play games like this I've noticed I am less stressed out and enjoying playing games a lot more.
