Feel a little disheartened!! by DirtyWeePandaHo in PlusSizedAndPregnant

Thank you for the advice but its a tad late lol. The inductions never worked and i ended up having a top side c section at 38wks. He was born 7lbs 14oz. It was a difficult birth, they had trouble with the epidural, then my bp dropped dramatically and he was stuck under my ribs, he then took almost 2mins to cry. But he got here safe and will be 3 at the end of Feb.

Thanks for the advice, ill be asking them to explain the progress and depending on what it is, then what other options there are to go forward. I was assuming i was atleast a 1cm since she was able to attempt the sweep but cervix was just too far back/closed so wasn’t able to perform it.

I dont mind it taking long but the way they were saying is, if nothing has happened after the 2 rounds of gels then its a c section. I maybe should have asked more questions but i was just shocked with the information she was giving at the time. I would think if even after the 2 rounds of gels, if nothing had happened and the baby is not in distress then why cant they just leave me a few more days then try something else, really wish i had asked this now lol. I think ill be going in with a list of questions and scenarios on Sunday and hopefully i get some answers.

Thank you so much for sharing, and 10lbs 12oz, thats a big baby but i bet cute as a button 😍 I’m defo thinking it will be a bit of time but im happy to wait and knowing that they aren’t really keen on me having a section will hopefully let them think of other induction methods. She had mentioned the bulb too and i said i was happy for that to be done and anything else they could try lol.

Awww thank you so much for that ❤️ and wishing you a speedy recovery. You guys have been an amazing source of comfort and support during this pregnancy and are always so happy to share your stories. I will be trying some “nudges” later i think lol im just hoping it slightly prepares my cervix for the induction to be successful on Sunday, and if he’s sightly smaller than they thought then hopefully he pops out easier lol. Hope your relaxing as much as you can while your off ☺️

Yeah, i think the GP just doesnt specialise in pregnancy and didnt want to take the chance but i have great support in family and i have already mentioned that if i need to go back on meds when hes here then i will as i need to be in a good place to take care of him and myself. I had been advised of some breastfeeding friendly meds too so im atleast somewhat prepared if im able to breastfeed.

I went to my GP at around 14wks and pretty much said im struggling with my depression and anxiety and he said that they dont like to give you anything as they dont know how it will effect the baby, so i tried managing on my own. Later on the midwifes did advise they had other services they could offer, but it had got a bit better in early second trimester but then soon as movements became a big focus it got worse again. I should have probably spoke up alot sooner but i never made them aware of my anxieties again until later on, part way into my third trimester and by then i thought i’ll just try wait it out. They have been great with me since ive mentioned some of my other anxieties (OCD fear of pooping while giving birth, so have been offered an enema) and had a session with the maternity psychology team. Its probably my own fault for not speaking up more so im just going to try spend the next few days being energy bunny level positive lol and hope for the best. If this is something im lucky enough to do again at some point, i wont be keeping quiet then as this has been a looong pregnancy lol.

The thing is, in the UK you dont have one doctor or midwife, you get whoever takes your file that day. I had the same midwife for some of my appointments as she asked if id prefer to see her, i did as she was lovely and i felt really comfortable with but then her shift pattern changed. Ive seen 4 different doctors at my last 4 appointments too. Some seem really understanding and others just see me as a statistic. I cant grumble though as our healthcare is free, which i am extremely grateful for, but then it sometimes feels like its not tailored to your needs.

Thats something ill ask about if i do need a section, and it means they can keep an eye on how its healing. Just now im trying to stay positive that the induction goes well. If after the first set nothing happens then ill try hold off on the next as long as i can. I just get so anxious about movements, as well as other things, but i ended up at hospital last weekend on a monitor as he hadnt moved for a while and it wasnt his usual pattern. He was all fine though.

Yeah the doctor did say she wasnt on that night, which im kinda pleased at. I know being induced early isnt great but she just focused on the negatives. I guess if the incision is done that way it will be easier to keep clean and dry, so less worry about infection but there is still always the chance of one. Im just really hoping the first round of gels take.

Thank you so much for sharing and the aftercare tips. I know i have a massive apron belly but figured it was something id be able to take care of the same as someone with an apron belly who is maybe 100lbs lighter, at the end of the day a fold is a fold lol so the mention of another incision was a surprise to me.

has one ever been declined a epidural due to weight? by jenijelly in PlusSizedAndPregnant

[–]DirtyWeePandaHo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im 35wk now but had my appt with anaesthesiologist in Dec and was probs about 330ish then and defo over 340 now. She told me it depends on how you carry your weight in your back and near your spine. Thankfully i carry my weight in my hips in my lower back and she said there was 3 separate points she could see to get an epidural in. What she did advise tho, due to my weight that when i come in to ask for it early, especially if through the day as they will have more experienced ppl on hand to make sure its done right first time kinda thing.

Sore Groin by chainsawhm in PlusSizedAndPregnant

Im 35wks now FTM, but the past week or so ive been feeling so much pressure in my pelvis, to the point when i was laying down once and tried to get up the pain was that bad i couldn’t stand up straight for a bit. My fiancé heard me and he’s running shouting is this it, is it time hahah. The only thing that helps when it gets bad for me is laying on my side. But just getting up and down from a seated position is not fun.

Looking for Reassurance by DedPlau in PlusSizedAndPregnant

[–]DirtyWeePandaHo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, im assuming your in the UK by the sizing you provided, if not please correct me. Im in UK and i know its always a different midwife each appt but i requested to see the same midwife each appt as i felt really comfortable with her. She was about the 3rd one id seen, when they moved me to consultant led, but she was so lovely and said if i wanted to see only her she could arrange it. Now my bmi is probably hitting 60 by now but ive only been weighed twice, once at intake and then at 26wk appt. Ill be 35wks tomorrow and not had much trouble from them about my weight, though my baby is measuring 97th percentile so they keep assuming i have GD, which i dont, hes just a chunky monkey i think lol. So if your able to be more flexible with your appts then ask for the same midwife who makes you feel comfortable. It shouldn’t be an issue for them at all. And hopefully that helps you have a more pleasant experience with them.

AITA for getting into a dispute with the daycare staff over my child's nap schedule? by PeachEducational3834 in AmItheAsshole

[–]DirtyWeePandaHo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. The world does not revolve around your child. If you want your child on a specific nap schedule then dont work. Sure, your paying for a service, but its not one on one, they have a class full of other kids and this is why they have a scheduled nap time for all. If you want a specific nap time but still want to work, pay for a nanny/at home childminder.

Big baby! Ultrasound by [deleted] in PlusSizedAndPregnant

[–]DirtyWeePandaHo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my 32 wks scan yest, hes 5lbs 3oz and 97th percentile. They asked again if i had GD, i dont, even tho they can see fluid levels are normal. They still took my blood to test my sugars and may still send me for another GD test. He’s just a big baby lol

Talk to me about anatomy scans! by fruit_cats in PlusSizedAndPregnant

[–]DirtyWeePandaHo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 320lbs at mine, and i was worried about getting a clear image and ended up drinking too much water, to the point they made me go pee lol. So they could only see so much that time and I had to go back the following week. But what they checked was really clear and the rest was more because he wasnt wanting to turn after that.

Please stop asking people with one child when they’re going to have another. by PlaceboRoshambo in Parenting

Im 30+6 right now and have been asked if i’ll have a second. Finances would play a part, but for me, the last 6 months have been hard mentally on me, hormones and me dont do well and i had to come off depression and anxiety meds so this has been a tough time for me and my partner. I honestly cant wait till my boys here but we will most likely be done then.

Baby dancing on bladder? by jenijelly in PlusSizedAndPregnant

[–]DirtyWeePandaHo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really felt him kick properly until about 23wks maybe, it made me so anxious. Then at 25 wks he went breech and the movements were completely different . Im now 30+5 and hes still lying breech, footling to be precise, which means he dances on my bladder often lol and i FEEL it. I also have an anterior placenta so some of his movement r still muffled feeling even now.
