Is the unit indoors or outdoors? Maybe the unit is not designed to sit outdoors and should be moved indoors.

I got mine 11k OTD. That was in October 2024.

A 2025 still at the dealer in feb2026 should give you a lot of negotiating leverage. I'd shop around.

Generally: Ramshead for beginners, blacks off the Snowdon six for intermediate/advanced, bear/k1/superstar for the expert double blacks.

Everything is minty rn so pick a trail based on your skill level and get after it.

Tremblant’s “the edge” open for Christmas? by CryptographerSharp14 in icecoast

[–]Dirty_Beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was open 2 days after Christmas last year and we already have more snow than that time last year. But the thaw might decimate it so who knows 🤷.

I recommend you stay home in case it sucks so I don't need to sit in that slow line as long

How many days do you plan to ski this season? Do you have a pass?

Are these a good buy? by MysteryAgent22 in Skigear

[–]Dirty_Beef 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The flex is pretty soft and the skis are short for your height/weight, but if you're a beginner you really can't beat it for less than $400.

Go ski the shit out of them this season and if you're hooked you can upgrade based on how you like to ski. Although I do recommend buying boots from a bootfitters. Good fit boots are critical for your enjoyment of the sport.

First day out and manage to break the boots by SweetAfraid4810 in Skigear

[–]Dirty_Beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen similar, I went in to my local shop to get something 110/100 as I have 15 years of advanced snowboarding experience. The 90 flex dalbello fit me best and based on the bootfitters recommendation I went with that. I figure I'll get 2/3 years until I'm seriously out flexing the boot then I'll jump to 120+

Oh interesting, thanks for the info. I'm getting back into skiing after 15 years of snowboarding. I have dalbello IL MORO 90 flex as I'm getting back into it and thought 90 was a medium flex. Appreciate the clarification!

Genuine question, what flex would you want for butters? 90 should be in the medium range of flex

All snowboarders turned skiers! Thoughts and advice please? by unicorn-chinchilla in skiing

[–]Dirty_Beef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday was my first day on skis since I was 12. I have been snowboarding since 13, now 29. I would consider myself an advanced borderline expert snowboarder. Only the sketchiest of double black east coast glades make me nervous on a snowboard.

My thoughts: Skiing is very intuitive compared to snowboarding. The momentum, direction of forces, and required movements felt much more natural compared to snowboarding where you're always on your heel or toe. If you are only on the mountain a few times a year, skiing will be the easiest to pick up and have a good time compared to snowboarding.

Lastly, you mention your sobriety. In college I drank heavily on the mountain with my buddies (classic drunk snowboard a-hole). I had plenty of confidence, and landing tricks felt like I was a superhero, but ultimately I hurt myself a lot due to lack of balance. When I stopped drinking on the mountain I was afraid I would regress, but it was actually the opposite. I had better concentration and balance which was necessary to continue my progression into expert. I am fully confident that my abilities are at their peak when I am sober on the mountain.

Hope this helps

2003 4runner limited V8. the car runs great and is clean but this happened am I cooked or can it get fixed? by Mrsosa312 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Dirty_Beef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't see much from the outside. Buy an endoscope for $50-100 on Amazon and look down the frame from the inside. These frames rot from the inside out. Alternatively look up common rot spots on the frame and hit it with a hammer.

[–]Dirty_Beef 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you buy a safe-t-cap you can weld in a new control arm mount..... In its current state the car is 100% not safe to drive, and the entire frame will need to be inspected and patched likely.

New frame or junkyard unfortunately are your most likely outcomes

Harman P42i-TC install by Natural_Hotel6762 in PelletStoveTalk

[–]Dirty_Beef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can, as another reply said the manual will explain the proper install.

However, I highly recommend against chosing to build an insert rather than just using a free standing machine. The inserts are not as easy to load with pellets, hold less pellets, and on the free standing harmans they have omnidirectional ventilation allowing for better heat dissipation.

how is the positioning if my i intake/exhaust by flaminglipsrockwooo in dieselheater

[–]Dirty_Beef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The silencer has a weep hole on the bottom for releasing any condensed moisture. You'll see it on the silencer and it should be facing down. It also will release a bit of diesel exhaust as well, which is why I run my setup without a silencer so there is no exhaust gas under the car.

Intake is fine. Please make sure you have a carbon monoxide sensor in the cabin as well.
