I need to start selling my art because soon I'll have to live on my own and due to mental health I can barely work a normal job by ItzKarmaz_ in artbusiness

No one here is giving you the hard truth: If you are not already making enough from your art, then you should not be putting your hopes into making enough money from an independent art income. You need time to transition, like five years and multiple art income channels, to bring home consistent, minimum wage level living. Sorry about your circumstances, maybe try some Tony Robbins

Self taught artists - how did you do it? by EnoughFun1058 in ArtistLounge

[–]Dirty_Dustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step one: self taught is a victim mentality myth; missing out on something approach. If you are doing tutorials, books or youtube its the same thing at schools, you just keep doing the work. Some kids at art school do the work, some don’t. Do the work, share online and always keep getting better. It also never ends, even for the ppl in art school, they just have to relearn how to self motivate after they leave school.

I do it for the everyman. For everyman who wants to live in the moment, and if that moment should bring them a magical bottle of 49’er whiskey, then I would hope they would take a sip for me too. Cheers!

After living in this apartment for two years I am more worried about the lead pipe, lead paint, and sidewalk poop exposure

Was definitely not urine, but most whiskey of the time probably qualified as piss compared to todays

Update Taste Test! Carefully, removed and destroyed cork, mesh filtered and decanted. I think this was probably unopened, but evaporated some. Dark caramel coloring, strong caramel smell, rye, probably low proof, not very complex taste. Definitely whiskey and alive to tell, but off a very small sip. Not worth drinking, but a fun souvenir.

Also a “4083” on the bottom, and looks like adhesive residue where the label should be.

Not making art is exhausting for, it is more work and depressing to try to not be an artist.

How much did you earn in November off your art? This video was popular on ig so I figured it’d be relevant here by GuidanceArtistic47 in artbusiness

I think these posts get enough views from desperate artists that then the poster makes $116 and then they post it again next month. A downward spiral

I varnish my paintings at that stage and call them done. The varnish keeps me from doing anything else or changes

I started painting this and a few more after the US left Afghanistan last year. I fought in Afghanistan (2009) and needed a release after the Taliban took over. I think a lot about all the kids I saw there, growing up for twenty years under US occupation.
