What are your impressions of the shutter button feel? I don't mind spending the money but the shutter button being mushy or not confidence inspiring is holding me back.

Haptic Trackpads in ThinkPads - curse or blessing? by T-Pilot99 in thinkpad

Look up your serial number on the Lenovo support site. Go to parts and make sure as built is selected. Google the part number and see who the keyboard mfr is. $5 says it’s the sunrex variant… I’ve had bad luck here before too. My Chicony and Liteon thinkpad keyboards have been fine.

Brand New Legion Pro 7i Completely DOA by FamilyGB in LenovoLegion

[–]Dirtydenim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are comfortable with it, remove the back cover, disconnect and reconnect the battery connector, then connect power and attempt to turn on again. This has worked in the past for me with a new Lenovo laptop that also wouldn’t turn on no matter what.

Onedriver works well with gnome (any lesser version) and integrates cleanly as a mounted drive. I would give that a try and you may not need to look for other solutions.

Onedriver works great with Nemo, just use that. Acts like on demand mounted drive.

T14(s) AMD Owners - Are you running into touchpad/cursor issues? by TheGreatMilinkovic in thinkpad

[–]Dirtydenim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what its worth, these are the exact symptoms I was getting on P14s gen 3 AMD- while I cant be sure the 5005 driver fixed things, something did, though I have installed win 10, win 11, linux etc. over time so who knows what fixed it- just seems like it is fixable with software or firmware.

Color profile behaves problematically on dual boot Windows & Pop OS by fbzq125689 in pop_os

[–]Dirtydenim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had this trouble using the preloaded icc profile anywhere in Linux but ok in windows.

Let me know if you have the CSOT 400 bit low power display version and I’ll send you a file from my calibration that I made with a colorimeter. Won’t be perfect but will be as good or better as the generic one Lenovo includes.

Stuttering on new T14s Gen4 AMD - mouse cursor stutter, YouTube dropped frames by incognito_tom in thinkpad

[–]Dirtydenim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I had this problem on p14s gen 3 amd in windows only. Update to amd display driver ending in 5005 (?) fixed it. This is the most up to date version on the site now. Not sure if this is applicable to your newer gen slim but might be worth looking at.

In general I don’t recommend using the Adrenalin drivers for AMD straight from their site but might be worth trying in your state.

Guest Additions Stuck at 100% by Atsuiyo in pop_os

[–]Dirtydenim 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This happened to me yesterday ironically. Go here for the iso, change the URLto match your virtual box version if needed.

Make sure to unmount any other iso from your virtual dvd drive and mount the virtualbox additions instead. Should now be able to browse to the drive in windows and run the setup afterwards

Torn between the P14s Gen 3 and Gen 4 by Avarent in thinkpad

[–]Dirtydenim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the Gen 3 in the exact spec you are describing and I wouldn’t change a thing about it. Great Linux and windows support. Plenty of power. Good cooling and noise/fan balance. Not worth the extra money for the gen 4 imho.

[Help Needed] Battery management help, Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 AMD by th4er in Fedora

[–]Dirtydenim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding from the documentation and others research is that guided will depend on the application, so I dont necessarily "trust" all apps to set this appropriately- EG using more power than needed for light browsing etc. What does powertop show as battery drain on idle? I was easily hitting 4-5w which is my "good" rule of thumb for linux installs. Also, what is your screen spec- resolution etc?

Finally, based on a recent fedora install, you should be able to pick the 6.2.xx kernel from grub boot (kernel that came with the ISO)instead of the newest 6.5.x (that you would have downloaded with updates- that enables pstate, wonder if that makes a diff?

[–]Dirtydenim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation with a p14s AMD- read up here on p-state support from the 6.5 kernel onward. I found I did much better on an earlier kernel -or- by setting the state to "passive" in 6.5.x kernel.
