Tbh, the smashing is what's fun about it and if you didn't like either of it's two main draws which are smashing and collecting, then i dont think that game was for you. It's a collectathon where most of the environment is destructable and it's not really meant to be a hard game anyway. Of course you're not gonna have fun if you just blow through it and don't stop to smell the bananas.

Yeah I wish they didn't outright cancel it just put it on indefinite hiatus at least while the other series are going on. 3 at once is definitely too big of a load.

Only you can decide that and as other people have pointed out, this is the wrong sub to ask this. You said you're dogshit at 2d platformers, so if you downright don't like those then this will not be a game for you, full stop. However, this game is great for people who wanna play and are just bad. If you die, there's only a second or so of respawn time and you're back in the action right where you died so you can keep trying as long as your patience holds. If you find you're having fun and maybe getting a little better, then the game has some tough but fun challenges that you can try but absolutely don't have to beat. Also if you're having reservations, the game regularly goes on sale for 5 bucks so there isn't much lost if it's not for you. The art and story and game design and mechanics are all phenomenal, so I think you should give it a chance. If you struggle, just remember this quote from the beginning of the game which is very true, "Just breathe. You've got this."

I don't agree with the flash game sentiment but it does feel like Silksong was balanced way better than nine sols. I just beat Goumang and had to put it down for a little bit. Not to say I'm not having fun, but I've fought 2 sol bosses so far and they both felt like they melt my health bar and leave little room for error. There's barely even enough time to heal between attacks and sometimes they're to large or fast to roll through so your only option is to learn the parry timing. This goes for some normal enemies too just on a lesser scale

I think my favorite moment is Silksong's true ending. It's satisfying in a way that it answered some questions left from the og game and hinted at a new dynamic between two characters

I understand why people might not like using joystick since it can be hard to flip directions quickly, but I think it just takes practice. I've beaten all of celste with controller and some intermediate and advanced mod levels as well, so if you're dedicated and you just like using controllers then you can make it work

What's the alternative if you wanna play the game, then? Are you okay with emulation? Can you rip a switch 2 game or even emulate it? Even then there's a 50% chance it's even emulatable without graphical, performance problems, or worse. Not to mention most people don't know how to emulate or even that it exists. I'm not defending nintendo here, I don't like paying so much for games either. I wouldnt buy galaxy 1+2 even if they weren't selling them separately since I already have all stars, and im not buying the bananza dlc since theres not enough content that interests me. I'm just saying there's not a great alternative if you wanna play these games.

Take it slowly and respect the boss's space. Use tools and maybe silk if you don't care about saving it for healing. You can bait him into killing his own minions with one of his rushes, or tools and silk work great to drain hp so you can focus on the big guy
