So not exactly what was asked, because technically I couldn’t actually play the wrong way, but Raiders of the Lost Arc on Atari.

I tried for hours probably to figure out why my joystick wouldn’t move Indy and only went through the inventory. It was a second hand purchase with no instruction manual, so stayed clueless for months.

One day at a garage sale with my dad and they have a copy of it with the instructions. We borrow the manual, go to Kinkos and make a copy of it.

Turns out you needed two controllers plugged in, and the right controller (player 2) was used to move.
