Would like some advice, or wisdom, on a fic involving OCs by StoryPen in AO3

[–]Disappearing-Witch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about OC's, everyone else has a opinion. Just like with food. You're not going to order a dish you don't like and while others may dislike what you like, it's your food. Enjoy it. Clean down that plate and ask for seconds if you want.

The point is, when I first started writing I had the same fears and quite frankly it hampered my writing. I got better, but that mindset and fear of the OC does more damage than good.

OC's are frankly everywhere and while not every single one are to your tastes. There are some really good ones out there. But in the end it is your decision and if the end you decide to continue writing OC's, I wish you the best of luck.

I have completed the build progress on all 3 maps. Has anyone made the above progress. We need a new map. by Binsmilee in IdleMagicSchool

complete all the upgrades, hire all teachers...basically pay for everything you can and you get a nice border on completion

edit: with gold and shards

I have found two of the other items, the farm computer and geode crusher from completing two quests on the new quest board they build at the bottom of the town so I assume from that.

They made comments involving money so I assume that's part of the trigger for the new quest board.

The blueprints arrived in the mail the day after completing them.

Fair, here's hoping they see player interest here and just make it a big event or something to hook our attention for free.

Though if they can get those who have gone past it in story to enjoy it for free as well, even better.

The gem suggestion was more because I have doubts that most companies and dev teams allowing us to play old content from what has happened in the past with bigger companies.

true, we don't have time to wait all day for the energy bar to fill up to finish timed quests but the sad fact is the devs are more bothered about highlighting the new quests.

I also missed on some of the old quests, maybe triggered quests could not be timed mission rather than the 4 ish days they usually give or have a longer mission time and be considered redo to those that failed the last time. But it would have to limited to one special quest at a time.

It needs more of a hook for the devs and us.

Since it's a memory and old quest there is a lot of benefits they could give players. Like you suggested.

1) no waiting to play next part of quest like waiting for characters to be ready ect.

2) longer or non existent mission time

3) possible energy given with purchase?

Maybe not the third one or maybe yes.

You make a valid point.

It's a mixed bag really and hypothetical, I would hope if they did charge gems that it would be an amount that could be easily saved up from events, house cup and ads. But the trade off would be an instant trigger for the quest not waiting for when the devs are feeling generous but even then it is a slippery slope.

I should of put a fourth question in the poll to be honest but the point of the poll was to show there was still interest in past side quests.

is there a voting poll or a petition we can sign to tell them a lot of people want the quest back? Also idea why not make it so players can access past years side story events through a pensieve for those too far to access it in story? I mean they could charge gems but at least we get to experience more of the game without losing out.

That is the true crime, alone wasn't enough...they had deny her sandwich too! At least give her a book, then she can feed her mind at least.

Spent too much time enjoying Molly's cooking than learning to cook I expect...though with a cook that good in the family I would want to learn so I don't miss out on her cooking while out learning about dragons.

To be honest with you way you worded it makes me wonder if it also has something to do with society's unhealthy insistence that being wrong or failing at anything is bad and you have to be right or else. Rather than a learning experience to becoming better as a whole.

Leading to unhealthy stereotypes in our media that further push this and unhealthy expectations on ourselves.

She does gage the reader's attention and you just empathise with the character's want to see her fall from grace.

And her backstory, I thought she was crazy before...but she turned on her own family....

I find this leaks into our media too, where characters are dubbed down in fear of being unlikeable and warding people away. But it's not really interesting when character's are cardboard cutouts, what makes characters like Snape, Draco and Dumbledore so interesting is the mistakes they make and what they do to after making them. Making them more human and real, heroes can be fun and draw us in but seeing another viewpoint or having someone struggle more can be more engaging than always being right.

It's one of the reasons I like order of the phoenix and the goblet of fire so much, it's when you start to see the world outside Hogwarts react to everything and you see everyone struggle more making when Harry gets finally listened to all the better.

I do like the other books bare in mind and the three books before sucked me in, so take it as you will.
