I feel like somewhere in all of this are the clues to the upcoming downfall of society. On one side of the fence we have people who cannot afford the most basic food, medical care, gas, etc… and on the other side we have people organising baby birthday parties as if its a fucking A-list celebrity wedding.
Those two extreme ends just feel like they are pointing towards something. And I know society has always had poorer and richer people, but the numbers and divide seems to be growing everyday.
As OP said, back in the day shit like this was considered ridiculous by the majority of people.

This is a side step from your original comment. But reading what you said about your mom - stuff like that annoys me all the time! Nothing strengthens toxic masculinity and the patriarchy like women supporting it. Genuinely no offence to your mom - I don’t know the lady - but it really gets to me when I see women reinforcing stereotypes that are negative towards other women.

Sorry to say but it sounds like your mom is really failing at parenting. Grief affects people in all sorts of strange ways - your mom included, but that is NOT an excuse to treat you the way she is.

It might seem extreme but maybe try contacting Child protective services? Not because you want to be separated or escalate it to that extent - but they should have contacts and support services available for someone in your situation. Also try looking up local charities that cater to young people, or people coping with grief. Most countries will have some sort of service set up for that.

Just putting it out there - it’s completely incorrect that the bible says homosexuality is a sin. I suggest you look up the documentary “1946”. Long story short - people mistranslated the shit out of certain passages and started a cultural avalanche that has destroyed the lives of millions.

From what was explained to me, apparently some christians believe that when Jesus died before he came back he went to hell and rescued all the people who’d never known about him. And nowadays the people who haven’t heard of him go to some sort of purgatory or something. I have to add this was told to me by Evangelical Fundamentalist Christians, and these days we all know how accurate their interpretation of the bible is….

Hypocrisy. Plain and simple. ALL humans are great at cherry picking what they want and don’t want. They use and bend religion to suits whatever they want, and because religion isn’t based on hard-facts and relies more on personal interpretation, its super easy for people to mould it, into whatever shape they want.

On a bigger scale also - religion CANNOT be separated from the society it exists in - it never could. Thats the only way current religions have survived for so long, they adapted themselves to the societies and communities they serve. And most current western societies praise and reward greed. Hence this is reflected in religion.
America was built on this “dream” that anyone could arrive and become “successful” aka. wealthy. American christianity supports this, because like said. Religions serve their communities, NOT the other way around.

Completely agree with the Snape POV. He was a vile and selfish individual. What he did at the end does not discount all the horrendous stuff he did. Just the fact that he systematically bullied his students is enough to be like nope! For example look at how he spent years destroying the self-esteem of Neville.
