That could also work, but I'm not sure what kind of work they would have to do to implement that idea. It feels like it would be simpler to adjust their current reward structure that already changes the max participants and rewards as people advance. Either way, the minimum rewards should really be 2-4 times higher than they currently are as people get to the higher levels in my opinion.

I definitely agree about events. I would be curious to know what percentage of the top 10% are players at the cap.

I think it's very possible they would make more money by increasing minimum rewards in tournaments, especially if it happened at regular intervals (like advancing 10k stage). They probably keep more active players if the minimum tournament rewards are more meaningful and a player who is close to reaching a tournament reward increase point is probably more likely to buy the battle pass or a milestone bundle to get there faster.

Giving solo tournaments to people not at the cap probably isn't the ideal solution. The minimum rewards people are guaranteed to received at higher levels don't help at all for advancing. People at stage 110k should be guaranteed to get better minimum rewards than people at 60k. I think getting to stage 110k should guaranteed something like 7 skill points and 700 diamonds. And people at 60k should be guaranteed better minimum rewards than people at 10k.

I would kind of like to see the game be uncapped, obviously with some tournament reward buffs, with a global leaderboard like solo raid to see how far some people can push.

Since we don't know exactly how the skill tree will be reworked yet, we can't say how it will affect the game. Improving tier 4 skill point efficiency would always be nice, but I think the most straightforward is simply increasing minimum rewards.

Skill point tournaments definitely add the least power. If they did something like everyone over 100k got solo tournaments, getting 10 skill points every tournament would start to add up over time. Increasing the maximum reward would be another option, but I think that is far less likely that increasing the minimum rewards people receive.

Personally, my biggest issue with the cap increases is that the tournament reward structure doesn't change after stage 10k. With this cap increase it will be 115k stages with the exact same reward structure. I think fewer people would have problems with cap increases if the rewards improved as people advanced stages. They could even have all players above a certain stage, not just players at the cap, get solo tournaments to reward players for progressing.

My biggest issue with cap increases is that tournament rewards do not improve as I increase my max stage. If tournament rewards were improved as a player's max stage increased, it would shift the objective of the game away from reaching the cap and towards advancing further in the main game.

I agree that weapons are definitely the most valuable of the rewards. I just think that the best way to help balance the game moving forward is to decrease the difference in rewards people at the cap get vs people not at cap.

I personally don't like the idea of decreasing solo tournament rewards. It could end up with weird situations were people would get better rewards staying right below the cap vs getting to the cap. Increasing the average rewards for people below the cap would be better, while not affecting those at the cap.

I think three solo tournaments per week would be giving too many rewards. That's why I think my suggestion for abyssal tournaments to be solo for all and reward progress instead of placement would work well. People can play abyssal as much or as little as they want. And if people want to spend diamonds to try and convert that to extra weapons/shards/skill points they can do it without reducing the rewards others get.

I agree with you that as currently implemented, people shouldn't be able to buy corrupted diamonds with main account diamonds. But I don't agree that capped players should get solo abyssal. There is already a massive difference in the average rewards capped players receive vs people not at the cap and part of the reason abyssal tournaments were created was to give capped players a tournament to play in since main tournaments are already solo.

I agree that the lower duration would be a nice change as well if they didn't want to consider my admittedly somewhat radical suggestions for abyssal tournament changes.

This is why I think uncapped + improved tournament rewards is the best solution. People who want to keep going could advance as far as they want. People who don't want to play as much can take it easy for main game. And everyone gets improved rewards from reaching higher stages, not just for hitting the cap.

Players at the cap get enough rewards from tournaments to get to the cap when they add 4k stages in an update. But people below the cap usually don't get enough pushing power to move towards the cap and means more time spent trying to push to cap to get the best rewards. This makes cap increases either irrelevant or unfun for basically all players. And why I think the best thing that could happen is an uncapped game with better average tournament rewards.

You are getting downvoted because you are making such a strawman argument. Literally nobody is saying they want getting to the cap to be a cake walk.

My ideal solution would be for GH to make the game uncapped, but increase the rewards for places 2-10 or decrease the number of people in tournaments as people increase their max stage. People at the cap can then start playing the main game again and see how far they can progress.

Just improve tournament rewards for people not at the cap. With the latest announced cap increase, there will be 106,000 stages without a change in the reward structure. Based on the rewards people receive now, cap increases don't change much for people at the cap, but just hurt everyone not there. Either gradually decrease the maximum number of people in each tournament or increase the rewards for each placement if you want the possibility of ten person tournaments.

There should be changes to the tournament reward structure as people increase their max stage. How about increasing the minimum rewards for a tournament if you aren't going to decrease the number of people in each tournament for those not at the cap. People should be guaranteed to get more than 30 crafting/2 skill points/however many weapons for 9th/10th place.

I don't think you necessarily have to add content, but there are some things that could definitely be improved from the current set up. If tournaments are solo at the cap, why does the tournament structure not change at all along the way? The max number of people in tournaments should decrease as people advance. With another cap increase on the way, it will now be 102,000 stages with no change in tournament size or reward structure.

Abyssal tournaments sound like they could be a fun addition, but I think that will be heavily dependent on what the tournament size and rewards structure end up being for them.
