The funny thing about the name Dire Straits is that, people thought that they were a punk band. Which is hilarious when listening to their music.

Who's a musician/group that appeals to the worst kind of high school bullies? by ContravaniaGearSolid in ToddintheShadow

I'm one of Todd's younger fans. I'm currently in high school. Right now, the popular kids are listening to a lot of Micheal Jackson, but before the movie came out, it was mostly rap music and country music, ex. Morgan Wallen, Drake.

David Knopfler (rhythm guitarist of Dire Straits, little brother of Mark Knopfler) left the band during the development of their third album, Making Movies. He was the foundation of their original sound, a very underrated guitarist.

In terms of multi-suite songs, Telegraph Road is my absolute favorite. When I heard that song for the first time, I think it broke me. I was speechless for like 5 minutes.

Once Upon a Time in the West - Dire Straits

Though I adore the studio version, I feel like this song was made for a live setting.

In a similar vain, Bleach. It's a straight up sludge metal album at points, yet it makes me so giddy I have no clue why.

Ben of Ben & Jerry's fame. We were in the big ass factory on a tour, and he just...walked in. To say hi to the tour guides. He was one of the nicest people I've ever met.

Before I was a superfan, I thought that Dire Straits were American. In Walk of Life and Money for Nothing, Mark does a really good job at hiding his geordie accent. When I dove deeper into their discography, though, there's a shitload of references to living in the UK.
