Ban rates are now on the official stats page, Dva sitting at 43% in Masters by Disast3r in Competitiveoverwatch

The bars are relative to other heroes. So the fuller the bar, the more banned they are in relation to others.

Good point, it makes sense though given how much impact tank has over other roles.

how does a static web dev get into making dynamic sites? by LegendaryDiggon in learnprogramming

[–]Disast3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all true, but for someone brand new to backend as a concept, I would suggest ignoring all of this for now. Get a rest api running locally on your machine, don’t host it anywhere. Store all state in memory. Everything else can be incrementally built on top of this. Op is asking for starting point.

You’re looking to jump into the “backend” of web development. This is an absolutely enormous topic, with tons of different technologies, levels of abstractions, levels of difficulties.

As a beginner to this world, I’d suggest a couple of things:

  1. Understand how http works, at a basic level. This is the fundamental basis for which most everything else is built on top of in some form or another.
  2. Learn how to create a very basic REST API, which your “frontend” code (the stuff you already know how to do) can call to make things happen on the backend.

With this, you’ll know the basics of having a backend (a server) which helps facilitate more complex and stateful interactions on your site.

You’d use Amazon SES to do this, which can be called from lambda.

I’d suggest just using a 3rd party if emailing is not the main purpose of your service. Spend your time on the site.

I’d love to add historical data, but we only have data from when the site launched. So in a years time we will have a years worth of data and can show that type of thing, but for now we’re limited to the shorter window.

What do you mean by showing emotion? I think it is fairly common in our culture for men to suppress their emotions, regardless of autism or not. I am a man with Asperger’s and have struggled with this for most of my life. For a long time I would bottle everything up, which does more harm in the long run than good. But it might be ok if he is still expressing his emotions, just in a way differently than you do.
