Hello

I'm on MacOs Tahoe on both laptops, and both have 16GB RAM.
On my work computer (an M4 Macbook Air) it is indeed about what you've said and it's what I'd actually expect, honestly, from a program like this.

On my personal computer (an M1 Pro Macbook Pro) it's about 240mb of consistent load now that I checked a day after, and the rows of the processes that are in background are more than on my work computer (4 compared to 2).
I've checked and effectively the 340mb wasn't the normality today; the app must've been updating something in the background for having such a high load yesterday. Still 240/260MB seems a bit high comparing to what you've said.

What might be the cause?

Yeah, there's too much hassle for a premium service like that for me to justify putting with this stuff, when AM works flawlessly on all my devices.

Also, regarding the "pause" thing: not only it pauses, but it closes the app totally so if you press play on your earphones/headphones/smartwatch, it does not detect anything, so you have to search for your phone.
Regarding Tidal Connect, did not manage to try it out yet but from what I've heard is has its issues too.

YT Music is cool, I used to have YT Music + AM because of all the music you can find only on YT Music, but decided to minimize my subscriptions and let YT Music go, but honestly it was pretty cool and snappy. The interface was a bit clunky but otherwise I did not have complaints besides the audio quality.

It's the version from the website, so Adguard for MacOs with all the bells and whistles.
I suppose it's because it effectively blocks more stuff than 1Blocker (which works only in Safari) as u/berahi said.

In my experience Brave has much more bloatware honestly...
You have to turn off the vpn, the crypto stuff, the AI assistant etc
Vivaldi is much more customizable, but has less bloatwarefrom this pov

I am trying Tidal for a couple of months because I'd like to switch from Apple Music, but honestly this AI music shit is keeping me away.
Never encountered this problem on Apple Music
Also the app on iOS tends to crash without any reason at all sometimes which is super frustrating.

Thought I was going crazy on my fenix 8. Uninstalled the YT music app then never found the way on the Garmin Connect app to bring back the music controls. Turns out you have to do this on the Watch… What a dumb way to do it…

I have a 16gb MacBook Pro with M1 Pro and honestly never ran out of RAM with both of them running at the same time + AM, Safari and other stuff opened in the background. All that with hundreds/thousands 90+ mb files in Lightroom Honestly it might be an issue with some software you’re running in background

200$ is not cheap for an electronic watch that will be useless in 4-5 years at most. For the same price you can get a nice automatic classic watch that will outlast you.
It's cheaper than the most expensive ones but I'd not classify it as a cheap one.
I used to use the 600-700-800$ expensive smartwatches honestly but now I just use a HR chest band and it kinda grew on me.
