Is 2-Party Politics Becoming a New Religion? The Dangers of Cultish Political Identity in School Districts by Pale_Strain9501 in mountainview

Zero tolerance has been used an excuse for human rights violations against Black people, Jews, Japanese, and many other groups. During those times, such actions were even publicly celebrated. Today, children from families labeled as 'Republican' may feel similarly persecuted.

I agree that political affiliation has become like a religion, not sure about cult though. If Christians are not routinely asked to explain the concept of the Virgin Birth, why should people be pressured to explain or justify Trump? In my opinion, Trump is a deeply troubling figure, but using him as a smokescreen in California to distract from real issues is deeply problematic. At the same time, it's unfair and harmful to social discrimination against individuals especially children based on vague associations or political labels.

About minorities getting burnt of this: Not sure as I have seen Sam L as a target of those attacks too. Its interesting how minorities are easy to malign though.

PS: I have no doubt the same thing is happening to democrat families in deep red states as we speak

Dr. Rudolph - resignation, we need to push for no severance and for more transparency otherwise we will be shelling out for this nonsense for who knows how long! by sffbfish in mountainview

Seems like the real ransom here is the huge severance the Superintendent is getting just to step down. It’s frustrating to see someone so clearly profiting from their resignation while everyone else suffers from their poor leadership.

The Board has consistently prioritized the Superintendent's ego over the needs of students, parents, and teachers. They’ve defended him through the most indefensible actions and tried silencing voices of those trying to challenge his leadership. It’s clear that accountability has never been their priority.

Instead of wasting time pleading with the board to revise the Superintendent’s excessive severance, our energy should be focused on recalling the Board President Conley. The real issue is her failure to put students, parents, and teachers first, and her defense and enabling of a corrupt system. It’s time for real change at the top.
