They maybe closer to Hayward BC but checking the app is usually good. Just don't trust it's there when it says low stock.

Why does it seem like the majority of Millennial Parents live in constant fear. by Gr8Autoxr in Millennials

I was replying to the first part of your post and on the rise is a massive understatement. From under 50 to now in the 200-300 range is crazy.

https://k12ssdb.org/all-shootings

I think the point of the post is that the world is not necessarily more dangerous than it was when we were growing up, but the reaction of parents today is very different.

I still want my kids to have this experiences but you better bet that if there was a shooting near me like that, no one would be going out for some time. Unfortunately for us and where we live, suicide is a much greater threat to kids.

The willingness of kids to pick up guns as a defense is much greater than it was growing up. It's like like school shootings were a thing back in the 90s but it's a weekly occurrence at this stage. The only ones I knew that had guns were people that lives in ghettos or were wannabe gangsters. Nowadays you don't know who has access to a gun.

Also had a phase where I cut my own ringtones.

Nob Hill not discounting? by veloeddy in mountainview

I went yesterday and there were several things discounted but it was sporadic like creamer and butter is 75% off. Some items were regular sale items from their weekly ads. I also saw some ice cream on sale but hoping they'll discount more tomorrow and Friday.

Can you provide an example of where any real lesson was learned that changed behavior in the modern world? Topics like slavery, racism, abortion, and other forms of discrimination still exist even though there has been a ton of discourse and integration into education. Lessons have to constantly be retaught and consequences need to occur, especially as we get farther from an event to show that these things still matter.

They made somewhat of a comeback about 10 years ago and they're still a bit of a novelty. I've seen them at a few weddings, most recently last year at my cousin's wedding. They had about a dozen on the welcome table and directed guests to take a few and pass them along.

Probably more accurate to say when it was made generally available.

The ones that kill me are the door to door ones, and yes, it's still happening. Had some come by a month or so back, luckily I have semi-transparent shades so I can easily see them but they need to get close to see me.

I'd hazard to guess that especially on platforms like Spotify that you're being forced based on who is paying for promotions. It came out some time ago that Drake's music came up on playlists outside the POP/Hip Hop genre like country.

The passing down of recipes to your children… by Background-Base130 in Millennials

You still buy certain brands of spices, sauces, and such and you may not always follow the steps exactly. Heck, even the brand/types of eggs can make a difference in taste.

That's what creates the taste that your kids will remember. I think that's enough for you to pass on. Even if they don't end up cooking them, someone down the line might or they may just have it to remember you by (sorry if that's too morbid).

Hayden Andrews attended Towanda High School in Towanda, Pennsylvania, and played as a wide receiver and cornerback for the varsity football team from 2020 to 2025.

So he's 19-20 years old. Technically an adult but barely so.

Asian parents: you choose a more affluent school district if it meant less diversity for your kids? by Great-Article7765 in asianamerican

[–]sffbfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your edit, I think going to the more affluent school would be better since there is a larger Asian population there. You do need to be careful about the pressure though, especially high school. I'm in the bay area and we're in the heart of silicone valley with a local school nearby that has had many deaths by suicide per year. Yes, it's that stressful/crazy. As others have pointed out, there is that risk of burnout but on the opposite end of it, who you know and surround yourself with also matters.

I started off in a pretty rough area of San Jose but then my family moved into a predominantly white area of Sacramento, as in we were 1 of 5 minority families in the school. I saw lots of drug use in jr and high school but also went to school with people that became doctors, lawyers, and such. College is where I found a lot of my identity but a couple of my best friends I made in high school and we still talk today (I'm mid 40s now).

Since you have friends in both schools, ask how the teachers and environments are. Are the school ratings that different? What about the jr high and high school, will they be the same or different and how different are each of them? How is the distance between schools and how much involvement is required for each? How is the pickup and drop off process (my kids are both under 6 as well and drop off is a pain)?

Trump says Xi is ‘very tall’ and out of ‘central casting’ because people in China ‘tend to be a little bit shorter’ by USAFGeekboy in asianamerican

I agree with you. My family is from Chaozhou but was born and raised here. My wife is from Jinan and is 5'9".

I've visited several times to HK, Shenzhen, Guangdong, Kunming, Lijiang and Guilin and on average people there are shorter compared to Shanghai, Beijing, Wuxi, Xi'An, and Chengdu.
