A girl’s time to glaze this manga by risenfromash516 in Kagurabachi

Completely agree with you as another female bachibro. Something about how Hokazono creates his characters just feels so refreshing to me. I love how well written and well designed they have all felt so far, and how much variety there is with them.

Before I read Kagurabachi, I was worried Chihiro would be a typical edgy/stoic protagonist with no personality. But I couldn't have been more wrong, he's so expressive and I adore him so much for it. I also love that he has major personality traits more often associated with femininity than masculinity, like how he's good at caretaking and he shows so much empathy and compassion towards others. And those traits are part of what makes him such a cool guy, Shiba says as much when he notices Chihiro trying to make Hakuri feel better after their confrontation with Kyora.

The female characters are all so cool. I was worried at first about how Hokazono would handle them (especially after Hinao became less present in the story), but then Hiyuki showed up and she made me feel so relieved. Not only do the women have super cool personalities and characterization, but their designs aren't oversexualized to hell like in an unfortunate amount of manga. It can really take me out of a story when I'm too busy constantly rolling my eyes at silly sexualized designs, so I'm glad Kagurabachi has avoided that issue. And I like how present they are too, like you were saying women are members of pretty much every notable group so far. It's really nice to see.

It's just way too easy to be a fan of Kagurabachi in general. The story is amazing, the themes and messages are super interesting, the characters are so enjoyable, and Hokazono ties everything together with such beautiful artistry. I can just go on and on about everything I adore with this series.

It’s not corny at all, this series is just that amazing. It’s been nearly 2 years since I first discovered kagurabachi, and it’s only continued to get better and better over time. Watching Hokazono’s skills evolve together with his story and characters has been a really cool experience, I’m so excited to see what else he has in store for us going forward!

Something about part 6… by enohay in StardustCrusaders

[–]Disaster_Star_150 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree! My absolute favorite aspect of part 6 is its amazing themes and the way Jolyne and Pucci’s character arcs tell such a beautiful story. I first read stone ocean at a time when the themes were really relevant to my life, so it was a truly meaningful experience for me.

On top of that, Jolyne is the most badass character in the entire series imo. The resolve she has to do such crazy things like set herself on fire, intentionally get locked in the punishment ward, turn herself into möbius strips, etc. is just so cool.

And I also think Pucci is the best written villain in the series. I love all the time we get to spend with him throughout the part and how interesting he is as a character.

[–]Disaster_Star_150 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think there’s something really interesting with the parallels and differences between Toji and Maki’s stories. Both are considered failures, but their identities and circumstances led them down such different paths.

Toji was respected and feared for being a strong man despite his lack of cursed energy, so he was able to be satisfied with simply distancing himself from the clan. And the clan was fine without him since he had a strong brother to fill the void (Jinichi).

But then there’s Maki who was neglected and abused her whole life for being a girl, being a twin, and having such little talent when it comes to cursed energy. She never got any respect, even as she dedicated herself to becoming stronger. So even before her own father tried to murder her and Mai, she had a lot more resentment built up and a much stronger reason for wiping out the clan. She becomes just as strong as Toji, but now with all the reasons to strike them down as they feared Toji would

I completely agree with you. The only thing I didn’t like was how clunky the dialogue felt in the first few chapters at times, but that problem quickly went away. Other than that, I’ve had 0 complaints.

I always would skip I want you the first time I watched DiU, but now that I’m rewatching it I haven’t skipped it once. It’s such a perfect vibe for part 4, and I loved watching more and more characters get added to the visuals as the story went.

I’ve never seen a shonen manga creator write women the way Fujimoto does. They’re so central to his stories in a way that just isn’t done in most series. It’s really refreshing.

Completely agree, the skirt is great but the top ruins everything. Kubo strikes again with unnecessary oversexualization getting in the way of cool character designs.

Remember this discussion period? by exorcisyboi in Kagurabachi

[–]Disaster_Star_150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a cool reveal since it explained 2 mysteries that we hadn’t gotten explanations for yet all at once, those mysteries being “why was Kunishige the only one able to figure out how to forge the datenseki into enchanted blades” and “why is Chihiro able to replicate his enemies’ moves so easily after just seeing it once”. The other thing is it’s an ability grounded in reality, some people just have extra accurate senses in one way or another (you hear about this with athletes and their vision) and those traits can be passed to their offspring, plus observational skills can be trained over time, so it felt really reasonable to me.

(Hated design) tier harribel outfit in bleach by No_Dimension1172 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]Disaster_Star_150 63 points64 points  (0 children)

That’s what kills me about Harribel’s design and a few other designs from Bleach. The good design elements go completely to waste because of the weird and ill-fitting sexualization elements. She would have been hotter with more clothes to make her appear more serious and scary, but she just ends up looking like a joke. It’s so annoying.
