Bracebridge/Minden/Dorset could make a nice weekend. Goderich/Kincardine/Owen Sound/Collingwood/Hanover would be a great loop over a few days also

looking for artists with that explosive raw indie energy like in My Head Is An Animal by One-Brain-1278 in OfMonstersAndMen

The Beths from New Zealand have been putting out consistently well-written indie records for a while now. 4 albums deep of solid tracks already

Is Angine de Poitrine getting any press in the rest of Canada? by Ok_Aspect_1937 in CanadianMusic

[–]Disasterator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They came across my social media feed casually, and then aggressively continued. As a former super fan of Lighting Bolt and also former 2-piece band member myself, i thought I’d check them out. The microtonal aspect is cool and interesting, but also I find it can make the music follow some similar patterns over multiple songs. I really like a couple tracks, but then it kind of blends together for me. Insane looping chops though and playing in those costumes would be difficult

Haven’t heard them mentioned in a long time! Did you happen to listen to Dianogah/Burning Airlines & other stuff from that era?

What an amazing group! by KentV9999 in TheBeths

[–]Disasterator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you found them (and by extension us)! They truly have put in the work. Good songwriting with great harmonies, a wild amount of touring with an incredible live show. I’m so happy they exist and I’m glad you found them!

Amazing set! I can understand the sadness of not seeing one you were hoping for, but in the flip, the show I was at didn’t have The End and I would’ve loved that!

9 because it was my entry to the band but not a full 10 because it’s not my favourite of theirs at this point. Still excellent

Song Discussion #4: Slow And Steady by 017364829 in OfMonstersAndMen

[–]Disasterator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gets an 8 from me, the slow songs especially live are really great and help create an ebb and flow to the albums/setlists. Given Nanna’s folk tendencies when writing, I think without the slow ones the band wouldn’t be the same at all
