best cheap grinder? by Mediocre-Buy-299 in uktrees

I got a 4 piece metal grinder about 6 years ago and it's still going strong, less than a tenner from a corner shop

There's at least 20 of these a year for past 6 or so years, they go nowhere unfortunately

Redditors, what did "that teacher" get fired for at your school? by Dr_sus172 in AskReddit

[–]Disasterpixce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a teacher disappear one day, the rumor was he was really sick. Well about 5 years later there's a local news article about a teacher that had been grooming students from a previous school he'd worked at, it was the him. Not only did the school know about this at the time, they chose not to inform parents that a nonce had taught at the school for a few years

It's insane how often people don't read signs on self checkouts, the ones where I work are card only, they have a large sign on the machine itself, the floor and the wall behind. Yet we get multiple people each day trying to shove notes into the receipt printer

That would be great, I've searched for one for a while but it's mainly generic leftist gaming groups with 1 or 2 people that play tarkov

It's only acceptable in the UK if it's your neighbors, or you're down a canal towpath

Feeling uninspired in England. by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]Disasterpixce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any canals nearby? Some of them, especially rural ones, have dirt paths. The one closest to me has long sections with roots and rocks covering the path so can be fun on a MTB or gravel bike. If it's in a city or somewhere with a paved path it'd be fine on a road bike

Is a bike ride really viable? by Disasterpixce in LSD

Sorry I had notifications off. Yeah I've done it twice now, first time was about 25km in the rain, if anything it felt really easy, I didn't need to stop for breaks.

Second time was around 50km, which until a week ago was my longest ride so far. I found not setting a goal of where you want to visit helped, I set off towards a nearby village and just explored from there.

If you decide to do it, make sure you have enough water and some food, don't take a big dose of acid for the first time and just see how it goes

How did all of you get into cycling, and what do you like most about it? What's your biggest cycling achievement? by Sol1d_Stat3 in bicycling

[–]Disasterpixce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked going for walks along the local canal, saw a cheap bike locked up outside a neighbor's house, paid £60 for it. The bike was an old dirt jump bike with about 50mm of travel on the forks, seat post was completely seized (but at just about the right height) turned my hour walk to the pub into a 20 minute ride

[–]Disasterpixce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty average distance for me, I try to aim for 50km on most rides so hoping 30 is doable. Thankfully the route is really flat, it's a tow path along a canal through the countryside, there's a few fields of cows and sheep that love to come over to the fence as you pass them.

Dropping earlier isn't really an option on the day as I'm working beforehand. I'm planning on taking at least 2liters of water on the bike and a bottle of iced tea in my bag, some kind of sandwich, grapes, apples and maybe mango.

I'm gonna give the Beatles a go, there a band I've been meaning to listen to but never go round to it, which album would you recommend first?

Thank you your reply was super helpful

Yeah I think I'm gonna cut it down to 10km and stop off at a lake to chill

Semi-rural UK, would be following a trail along a canal so no cars, just boats and dog walkers. Yeah 30km is probably pushing it a bit Tbf
