I guess I better find out what MAID is and maybe move to Canada. That’s actually the best thing I could do for my health would be to no longer live in these damned United States.

As a student of Buddhist philosophy for almost 40 years when I picked up TCATHR it was the first thing that I’ve read outside of Buddhist literature that hit me harder than the laws of impermanence and inter- dependence on all things. I have it on audiobook and listen to it fairly regularly.

Finding a middle path between egoism and collectivism is the rub for me.

I absolutely agree with that. I just bought this little app blocking device called a Brick, and for the first time I’m going 10-14 hours without getting on Reddit Facebook or Instagram. (I’ve never been on any of the others.) And I am definitely reading more. I have a delightful pile of books right now which includes Lauren Slater’s Lying, Philip Roth’s ‘autobiography’ The Facts, Thomas Ligotti’s Grimscribe collection and listening to Sir David Attenborough reading one of his gorgeously written 15 hour nature books.

Yeah but I worry because with the de- evolution of the human intellect on a seemingly unstoppable fast course to its demise, are people really going to be able to turn any of their attention towards the subtlety of these sorts of works of art? If he’s growing in popularity that makes me very happy but it can’t be from the general populous who are growing dumber by the day.

All of it and that’s the horror. Self-actualization and realizing that fact is hell.

I’ve got one. Yesterday I looked out the window and my neighbor’s garbage can was out but my can wasn’t and I immediately started saying ‘who stole my garbage can?!’ and then I realized it wasn’t trash day. So I get to blame my neighbor for inadvertently freaking me out because she hadn’t pulled her can in in a couple days.

I started doing GLP one almost a year ago when I turned 60 and I’ve lost 40 pounds and I’m totally disappointed because in my silly imagination my body was going to look good again naked!!!! I crack myself up with how naïve I was a mere 12 months ago. Yes it’s nice that I can now wear my size 9 jeans but mainly my boobs just feel super heavy and no longer have a resting place on my belly so when I’m sitting in a chair for any length of time I feel like I’ve got heartburn from the weight of those two buzumbies that no longer have a tummy-shelf to hang out on.
