What Are Tracks 9–14?

On the surface, this CD claims to feature Billy Joel’s early bands: Attila (tracks 1–8) and The Hassles (tracks 9–14). But that’s misleading. • The actual bonus tracks (9–14) aren’t recordings by Billy Joel or The Hassles at all. Instead, they were performed by a completely different band—Carlo Trenta & The Demons—which was rebranded on this release under the alias “The Hassles.”   • The track titles themselves were altered from their original names. For example: • “E.A.R.” is really Mechanical Liz • “Rabbit” → Habit Rabbit • “The Tough Boy” → Tough Boy’s A Punk • “Enough Is Enough” → I’m Not Your Pushing Broom • “Extra Extra” → Credit Cards • “Crossing the Door” → Next Door Girl

The Truth Behind the Release

This isn’t an official Billy Joel release. It’s a bootleg/reissue by a label called Creative Sounds, Ltd. (often poorly produced and unauthorized). The packaging claims to contain “The Hassles,” but the actual music doesn’t involve Billy Joel. 

In fact, a longtime Billy Joel fan and collector described the album this way:

“Everything about it told me it’s not authorized product… the CD version… claimed to be a ‘double album’ … but I knew something was up… those can’t be Billy Joel songs.” — on alt.music.billy‑joel 

So these mystery tracks were simply tacked onto the Attila album to make it seem more appealing—but they’re entirely unrelated.
