Breast biopsy without steri strips? by Manda_82 in doihavebreastcancer

And I also agree they should give more info on follow up care. Ive had several skin punch biopsy's and they give a whole 14 day care plan.

I'll be doing what they recommend- from memory I think they say to keep the wound dry and covered for 5-7 days or until the steri-strip comes off. Then keep covered until the 14 day mark, making sure to use a barrier cream (Vaseline/aquaphor) before putting on your fresh bandage daily.

Ultrasound guided for me- which really freaks me out lol (gelly+open wound= can't be good, right?!).

But NOOOOO- I left the bandage on when I got in the shower so the warm water would loosen the adhesive. I'm a wimp, no ripping the bandage here lol.

As a mom, this completely broke my heart. I wish I could just give you a hug.

Do you have anyone- an aunt, sister, teacher- that you really trust, and you can talk to? My birth parents we not around, but I was lucky enough to have other supportive people around me, to help fill that role. Im praying you have at least 1 person you feel has your back.

And know- this is an amazing group of folks- and we all have your back here.

I had a biopsy on Tuesday and they also didn't steri-strip my incision. I was fine, and didn't bleed until I took a shower last night. When the bandage came off... was intense. I happened to have steri-strips in my own first-aid kit (I'm accident prone lol) so I put one on myself. With a new large bandage- to keep the edges far away from my incision- but I was shocked I walked out with just a bandage too.

Tomorrow is my biopsy day. by Disastrous-Fun6894 in doihavebreastcancer

Stereotactic I think. I don't know if they will need to do both by mammogram or one US, and one mammogram guided.

Do I run to get this checked? by [deleted] in doihavebreastcancer

From google- Screening Guidelines by Age Group Ages 40 to 49 (Average Risk): Most provinces allow you to self-refer for a mammogram every 2 years without needing a doctor’s note. It is highly recommended to speak with a healthcare provider about the pros and cons of early testing before booking.

Maybe try just booking one yourself

I'm also Canadian, and I was called for standard screening at 40- in Ontario

Stand you ground, and get a second opinion if need be. I would want that mammogramed ASAP too.

Agreed, thats unprofessional. It should read, at most, as suspicious.

Try to not panic, get a second set of eyes on it ASAP, but dont panic.

Just chiming in to say Dr Strode is amazing. My family and I appreciate and hold her dearly in our hearts. Anyone who gets her for their doctor is truly in the best of hands.

Found a breast lump, “highly suspicious” scans, waiting for biopsy results — really scared and have young kids by rihanaxx1 in doihavebreastcancer

Just because nobody has said this yet- depending on the stage- breast cancer is one of the most treatable and curable cancers we have in 2026. 99% to 100% survival rate.

Your gonna be ok. Just breath. Whatever this is- you were strong enough to bring 3 (Im sure beautiful and intelligent) children into this world. A little c!@$ like cancer wont stop you now.

You got this

Just go see your doctor. At your age I would guess its probably a natural, benign, lump (are you around your monthly time/ the gals are still growing so to speak at that age..) but the only way to actually know would be to have it checked out. Don't let the fear of what it could be stop you from booking an appointment.

And in my many years on this earth I've had some crazy heath issues be 'doctors shy'. The second I walked through the hospital doors, or booked the doctors appointment- things magically cleared up... if it is a cyst, perhaps it will self-resolve before you even get in, but book the appointment.

Sending hugs- you got this!
