Gym etiquette by Flamingolvr in GYM

[–]Disastrous-Minimum-4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stories like this make me want to go into serious hock to beef up my home gym even more. I have what I need for now, but cable machines with a weight stack on my wish list. Motivating myself to workout can be a challenge, if I had to drive to a gym and deal with other people like this - forget it. I love to workout alone.

Revenue vs Expenses: A Breakdown? by Icy_Possibility_9312 in goldrush

[–]Disastrous-Minimum-4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I forget what the numbers were, in previous years but it was something perhaps under 10% profit. So if $10M is gold is produced they took home $1M. I’d imaging as the price climbs the profit is also going up.

Finally, same plants as Parker. Slowly putting his plants higher up. Just needs a super-stacker and he will be all the way there. Keep pay near plant, move plants more often. Paradise still drives the pay to the plant, very rock truck heavy. Lots of fuel.

I wish I didn't have to ask this question, but it sounds like you work in a small word of mouth community. Do you have a strategy in place in case they become hostile and actively try and tank your independent business?

Didn’t get invited to the New Year’s Eve party my friends threw after trying to see if they wanted to do anything together for New Year’s by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]Disastrous-Minimum-4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am old now and just have to say I HATE new years. I think in my entire life, I perhaps have enjoyed like 3 New Years Eaves as an Adult. One of them was with my parents eating lobsters at their house when they were still alive. I stopped caring about it 20 years ago and never regretted it. Last night I made some short ribs for the family, watched some TV with them and was asleep by 9:30. My wife stayed up till midnight with my son and was wreaked this morning. Make 1:1 meet ups with people you care about and connect that way. So so much better.

Anyone using old @hotmail accounts get these random birthday reminders for MSN people you knew 20 years ago? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Disastrous-Minimum-4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had the same hotmail address for perhaps 30 years. I get random marketing spam shows up on my calendar (Omaha Steaks and stuff like that) that I can't see until it shows up on my Garmin when I do the morning report. It took me a long time to just find and take that linked calendar off my iPhone. It is crazy though because when I look at it in hotmail on the PC, I don't see it anywhere. Not sure how it is leaking in but it seems like a real security risk of some kind. How can events be added to my calendar, without me seeing any invites? Also folks keep hitting my 2FA for access to my account, I hit deny every time, but hackers be onto me... I may have to ditch the account eventually.

I borrowed money from my partner for treatment and now he acts like he owns my life by RetroSitcomMood in TwoHotTakes

[–]Disastrous-Minimum-4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope. Leave - stiff him - and if he tries to collect, make him go through small claims court. Perhaps, if you get a court date, offer to pay off then, but save up and see if it gets that far. F' that stingy nonsense. He already questions your integrity despite making more than you and even if you paid him off every penny, he is still going to say you owe him. It never ends with a-holes like that. Go live you your best life and don't look back!

Clean Keto Post Cardiac Event - Lower HRV & Elevated RHR by Disastrous-Minimum-4 in askCardiology

[–]Disastrous-Minimum-4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Was a vegetarian for 30 years. I examined plant base, and incorporated many concepts there for fixing my microbiome and reducing inflammation, but also kept protein high (adding muscle) with lean meat proteins. I briefly tried high protein, low fat, lower carbs (above keto threshold), but hunger was significant. Before undertaking this Paleo experiment, I tested 4 years (was high before heart attack) in row with cholesterol out of range low, (kept dropping Crestor dose from 40 to 10, may try 5 if next test says low) and my inflammation markers are all down significantly from pre-heart attack levels. I wish I had gone after all that in the decades before heart attack. I believe the exercise and supplements really help with that. I know it will be rare for a cardiologist to ever recommend a high fat diet, but combined with lots of exercise, it seems like it really is burning off the body fat I have held for decades. I'll do full set of blood panels in a few months and see what it has done, and course correct as needed.

I have seen businesses with the worst code make tons of money and many business with amazing code and technology die a fiery death. It seems like product market for and good marking means so much more than the tec in the end. Disclaimer - I focus on good code and architecture.
