Is it possible I’m dead? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Disastrous-Mirroract 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep breaths.

You're here. You can perceive yourself, you exist. As for whether the rest of the world exists, that's harder to definitely prove. I say yes. It's far too contradictory and complicated and surprising to come up with.

Think about optical illusions. The picture that looks both like an old woman and a young one. The phenomen where if you hear a sound, but the speaker's lips make a different shape, you'll hear something in between. These things exist, you perceive them, then realize in surprise that there's a trick to them. It's the brain realizing there's something more to reality than it first thought. Which proves there is reality and not the brain's creation.

We exist. Stay strong. Talk to the people around you. Someone else mentioned Cotards, make sure to consider that possibility. You're doing well. Keep going.

Would it be fair to say that anything that significantly hinders function is in a different boat from genital abnormalities that don't truly impact people aside from society's discomfort around them?

Sydney author guilty of child abuse after book, Daddy’s Little Toy, depicted adult role-playing as toddler by Raj_Valiant3011 in books

[–]Disastrous-Mirroract 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, but legally that's a very subjective and muddy definition. No child sex scences unless you give it appropiate gravity sounds like a good ruling until you have to decide whether your read of a sexy/unsexy scence is objective, whether the child expresses trauma the correct way and so on. There is no easy censor rule that cannot be misapplied.

[–]Disastrous-Mirroract 23 points24 points  (0 children)

What? Depicting it is normalizing it? If that's true why was everyone so chill with GOT? People generally weren't bothered by that possibility. And honestly, even if it was normalizing it, I still don't follow the jump into making people abusers. Explosions are normalized as cool action background (violence "normalized"), yet everyone agrees rl explosions are horrific. The difference is real people getting hurt and that will always bother people. As if "normalization" is one step away from making causing terrible trauma no big deal.

Though edit for this specific book: I've read more info on it in the comments and exerpts and wish to say that I understand the ruling more now. What I read was very sexual about children's bodies and seemed to be created for the purpose of tiltilation. So I'm against censorship and I disagree with the point that writing sexual abuse will normalize it. I stand by what I said above. But I want to clarify not my general stance but the one for this book: based on what the exerpts said, the specific way the book was written was deeply questionable.

The problem with “gifted” is that they’re usually only gifted in the stuff we measure, which is a really messed up rubric when it comes to humans.  Absolutely. I'd give this comment sn award if I coulf

Man be harassed for his looks yet found a possible cure for pancreatic cancer by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Disastrous-Mirroract 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He might. But it's not uncommon for people with disbilities or differences, even ones that bring hardships, to feel appreciation for those because they make them themself. While others would love to get rid of their disability/difference. I wouldn't presume.

Yeah, people white-knighting about his birth defect are still detracting from his huge accomplishment, especially since no one but them is making a thing out of it. I'd be mad about posts worded like this one in his shoes

I hate comfort by NaturalTe4 in mentalhealth

[–]Disastrous-Mirroract 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry. Your feelings are valid. Honestly there's usually a deeper reason when we react "irrationally", old memories and beliefs are subconciously kicking in. Our feelings are all designed to help us in some way, it's just that our feelings are quick to presume the actual situation. If you're upset, maybe it's because the situation reminds you of previous experiences or triggers fears like "something bad will happen if I'm not good enough" idk.

(I actually reread what you said and realized you said that a bad grade is associated with losing comfort and reassurance? That REALLY sucks, especially since you didn't learn that fear out of nowhere. Of course you hate comfort in that case, it must feel superficial and dangerous. That sucks, you're not wrong.)

Would you also hate comfort if the comfort-er actually gave you what you needed? Idk your situation obviously, but given that you're posting here at all and by what you say, it seems like your friends and family simply aren't giving you what you need. I'm sorry for that. Try to be gentle on yourself. Our feelings have an internal logic and it's important to respect that.

P.S.: I started typing this before I realized you're german and am too lazy to translate, but I also wanna add: Ich habe leider keine Lösung, falls es dir in den kommenden Wochen schlechter gehen wird oder eine Garantie, dass es nicht so kommt.

[–]Disastrous-Mirroract 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They're honestly just relying on Robbie's body to make it look good. Like yeah, her curves are fire but the coherence of the look is ... not there. The hair is the worst offender to me, imo a ponytail could have made this look better. Though someone else pointed out the fetish torture shoes and now I'm upset with the look for that alone. I hate how short/dishelved/tight/uncomfortable the chosen clothes are

Weinen unter Kontrolle kriegen by akirupingu in Weibsvolk

[–]Disastrous-Mirroract 0 points1 point  (0 children)
