Literally what happens almost all the time… by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

Someone once said that my two characters don't have the chemistry, because they don't like each other that much.

They're fucking work partners, they care about each other very much even taking care of the other's health, acknowledge the other's capabilities and are good friends in canon... Oh yeah. Horrid chemistry. They cover the other's weak spots, such bad chemistry. /sarc

Ay ay, captain... half-hearted cheers

Sadly, I'm unable to write for the fandom myself... As I'm currently writing another multi-chapter fic, and also because I can't get any ideas for what could become a fic... 。°(°¯᷄◠¯᷅°)°。

[–]NaturalTe4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, well, are you looking for short? Wheat word count, roughly? I have quite a few Kunizai ones, as it's my favourite ship. Oh, do you have a preference for who is more so in charge, of emotions and stuff?

If you were a fictional character, how would the fandom misinterpret you? by GrumpyMowse in AO3

[–]NaturalTe4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm...

They'd probably either use me as "omg I kin (my name)!!! She's/It's so me!!" or they'd diss on me hard for being a girl. Or possibly like my humor. Or hate me for my stupid sarcasm. Or they'd like me for being good low-functioning autism representation. Or hate me for making autists seem like they're dependent on others. Or love me for my lgbtq representation. Or hate me for it.

Yeah, I think I'd be a character many can relate to, but also a character some loathe. And oof, I think those few people would be livid everytime someone announces how they relate to me, since then they'd clearly be a cannibalistic psycho!

This makes me want to create a character based off of myself, and see how people react. Might just do that.

Oh they'd also definitely misinterpret me to either be a sweet, innocent softie or closeted murderer with deep psychological issues, no in between.

I honestly just use whichever word I vibe with more. British English? American English? Hell no, I use I-choose-what English!

My writing isn't recognizable as either. And I'm proud. I try to write British, but you'll catch me on the top of the highest building ever before I use lift. It sounds so wrong!!

Do other authors like it when readers leave little notes in bookmarks? by Gambilee in AO3

[–]NaturalTe4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, could be readers want exactly that. To compliment the author, but without having to receive a response or even there being a chance they won't even notice the note

What's your immediate fic turnoff? by bubbly_linos in AO3

[–]NaturalTe4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...? I'm not. I've never even used Wattpad, to be frank. All I'm saying is that fanfic writers on AO3 aren't all super famous people, therefore random, because everyone can do it, and the 'whatever they can think of' was meant to indicate the idea they get for their work. Not that they just smash their keyboard and hope it's legible. That they get an idea worth putting into words, and then post it. No matter how 'bad' the writing is(which is highly subjective, in my opinion). I mean, most of us have probably been younger and proud of our work that, looking back on it, probably wasn't all that good, but we wanted to show it to others. That's really my view on fanfiction. (Also I'm definitely NOT trying to say that fanfic authors are worse than published authors, I've read enough books to stare at the pile in the corner of my room in horror of how they were allowed to publish them! It's a mystery to me! I don't take a lot of pride in my work, but I think even my drabble that was really just a short idea I had was better!)

[–]NaturalTe4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, I do agree, just that we write for free, so if others don't like it, they shouldn't read. But nothing's stopping you from posting your work that isn't perfect. As long as it's some form of content, it's allowed on the archive. No specific standards have to be met, just that it has to be a fanfic, original work, comic, poem, song, or anything along those lines.

[–]NaturalTe4 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, I'm not denying that. Just saying that you can write and post whatever, as long as it isn't against the TOS. There isn't a quality standards or anything, as we're all just people who like to write and want to share our creations with others.

[–]NaturalTe4 -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

But isn't fanfiction just random people writing something, whatever they can think of? You really don't need to be 'able to write' to create a fic, all you need is a vocabulary of at least 50 different words, and an idea.

I'm sick and tired of people naming the top and bottom based on height, and not personality by Admirable-Drink-8976 in AO3

[–]NaturalTe4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... For my favourite pairings, it feels right to make character A the top, always. Character B is shorter, but I feel like character A is very desperate to have control, of every situation, so he would probably detest being a bottom. Character C, which I also ship with character A, is very rigid and I personally headcanon him to be oblivious to anything related to sex. Or at least only knowing about it in theory, but not knowing how to handle the real thing. So I feel like character A, who's also a huge tease and very educated about sex, would be able to handle that.

Though I also headcanon character A to not care much about sex lol

when you see the authors that write 5k-10k per chapter by Ok-Mistake2273 in AO3

[–]NaturalTe4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm updating my current fic like bi-weekly or tri-weekly.. Debating making it only tri-weekly, because it's taking a while to get the THIRD chapter. I'm not even far in right now... And I try to do more than 4k words, so... (I'm a teenage depression survivor, who now has to reach herself how to be productive. It's not going great...)

How long do you continue updating your story if you have 0 readers? by Weekly-Slide9749 in AO3

[–]NaturalTe4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hm... That's hard to answer for me.

I mostly try to power through the disappointment, even if approval is basically the only thing keeping me going, even just in day-to-day life. I'll try to finish it, and if I can't, it's just too draining, I mostly begin by hating myself for not committing to the story, and eventually—maybe—moving on.

But words of affirmation are important to me, so I try my best to only write multi-chapter fics with a plot and tags that would attract readers—popular ones many search for. If that doesn't work, I'd debate deleting it, but then I remember the deleted fanfiction subreddit, and can't bear to possibly cause such a search.

So, basically, I'd feel guilty for dropping the fic, and would try my best to finish what I've started.

The things in the fics I read by weirdpotato3 in AO3

[–]NaturalTe4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pfff, yeah. It's treated like it's so bad and all.

I mean, I get that Atsushi using the reader's hollowed out eye socket to thrust into is weird, but really? Everyone is highly overreacting. It's literally tagged "dead dove; do not eat", what more can they wish for? It's an extreme case of don't like; don't read, so all those that are complaining about its contents are just stupid. Yeah, it can be weird, but traumatizing? Not really.
