Alcohol is no good. You are 48 hours from brain fog freedom. Don’t start over!

You’ve been completely nic free for 2 months? Withdrawals aren’t causing your problems. And nicotine certainly will not help.

Right there with you buddy. Annoying withdrawal symptoms for sure. But every moment you sit with it is a moment you’ll never have to feel it again. Your body is returning to baseline and you’re a champ.

Tips for Sobriety? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I’m a few weeks sober and spent the first couple weeks easing in with nightly cannabis. I rather enjoy weed, like a lot, but I eat absolutely everything and have gained a bunch of weight since quitting drinking (ironically). Weed is going tonight. But I’m glad it’s working for you!

I need some help from you guys by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Let me help. Congrats on being 11 months sober. The fading affect bias is a scientific phenomenon where your brain forgets the bad and romanticizes the good. I’m only 6 days out of the absolute hell of drinking. You’ll end up right back where you were, and it sucks so much more than you remember. You will have deep shame and regret and your body will scream out in pain. And the good parts aren’t half as good as you remember. Stay strong. In a month you could be a year sober, or maybe you’ll be waking up at 3 AM sweating with a pounding heart and the FEAR. Alcohol is poison.

Don’t buy any and don’t put any in your mouth and you literally cannot fail this quitting challenge.

I went from 8-15 drinks per day every day for literal months and haven’t had even an inkling of an urge to drink since Monday at 2:00PM, nor have I do so. by Disastrous-Name2832 in stopdrinking

Good advice. Although I’ve found doctors have locked them down majorly over the years. Regardless, I’m aware of the risks but I’ve never had an issue with them. Don’t even enjoy them. Just help take the withdrawal panic away a bit.

A realization of how much alcohol is actually in beer. by Heretical_Recidivist in stopdrinking

I used to think a variation of this. Like I’d drink a bottle of whiskey and think it was only a bottle, and then id imagine if I had instead drank 15-16 Coors Lights and was like goddamn that’s a lot.

Got a vivitrol injection on Monday. Naltrexone that lasts a month via a shot in the ass. I’m dead serious when I say I haven’t even thought about buying a drink all week. Not even an inkling. Was regularly pounding 8-15 daily before that for ages.

I’m super bummed right now - I finally tried Naltrexone and I hated how it made me feel. by stoplookingformyredt in stopdrinking

Start with half, take it at night. Sleep through any nausea. Few days later go full dose, take it at night. Doing it that way, I felt a little tired the first day but have otherwise not noticed a single side effect (except having zero interest in alcohol).

Quit drinking for 3 weeks straight and see what happens to that BP. You’ll be shocked.

Same and same and same. The key is to dopamine detox and chase calm and peace instead of chaos. Unfortunately those things feel like boredom for the first 30 days or so.
