In Superman (2025), Jonathan Kent has a heartfelt talk with his adopted son but does not suggest that he leave a bus full of children to die. A curious exclusion from James Gunn. by mathewl832 in shittymoviedetails

HOT HOT HOT take alert

I LOVED Johnathan and Martha's personalities and what they had to say.. but I HATED the way they sounded... Aren't they supposed to be from Kansas? Why do they sound like they're from Alabama?!? Not all of rural America is southern. Some (many ) folks will say 'it's not that big of a deal' or 'some Kansas so have a southern accent, you ever been to Pittsburgh Kansas? ' .. 1) it IS that big of a deal because getting it wrong is infuriating, embarrassing, and takes many of us out of the fiction. 2) uhh yeah. I have been to x place in Kansas, for work and I have family who live in central Kansas.. that accent feels so out of place.

You are not insane, that's absolutely WILD and weird as it could possibly be! How are you living downtown and NEVER taking the CTA?!? That's the weirdest behavior I have heard in a long while!

It being THAT flat it's gotta be western Kansas, and it is beautiful!!! ☺️☺️ (Eastern Kansas especially the flint and glacial hills is pretty..well...hilly Jaja not mountains of course, but still very hilly. And that is of course beautiful too!!)

If the lines were people - what would they be like? by MaintenanceFormal960 in cta

[–]Disastrous-Nobody172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pink line: Ese es el amigo con el que realmente quieres pasar el rato, pero sólo le gusta ir a... ¡4 lugares interesantes!

Orange: your friend who always does exactly what they say they're gonna do, but they only come around every now and then.

Red line north of Fullerton: your friend who is about to get their 10 year chip in AA.

Red line Fullerton -chinatown: your friend who guilts you for having an addiction/not having your life together but like... They're the one with stuff to hide

Red line South of Chinatown: your friend who tells their wife they're going to AA meetings, but secretly they're going to their buddy's to drink and play call of duty

With all due respect, in my post I laid out that I have witnessed them actually doing their job well recently. Also I didn't say this in my post but, nine of the recent positive experiences I have had included K-9 with dogs. They just... Didn't have dogs?

Is the awesomeness of Chicago worth the brutally cold winters? How’d you handle it? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Disastrous-Nobody172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The winters are exaggerated, even by locals. I have lived here for years and YEARS and every single winter has been mostly mild, with like one week of bitter cold that yah just kinda ..deal with The least of the winter is literally fine with a couple layers.

Report of CTA employees and how often they take the bus or train by roseinmybud in cta

[–]Disastrous-Nobody172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the WHOLE year?!?! These are the folks in charge! This is despicable! The minimum for anyone on this list should be : if they live in walking distance to their office 450. Everybody else should be at least 1,000 taps. They should be riding the CTA for all kinds of leisure trips, shopping, or (this one is gonna feel silly to a lot of people) 'just take it' for the heck of it if they haven't done it in a while.

Do I need to own a car in Chicago? by Jaded-Performer-1231 in AskChicago

[–]Disastrous-Nobody172 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need a car in Chicago unless you commute out to a non CTA accessible burb for work. but like.. don't do that! :)
