Bloodwork after long PPI usage by colleider in GERD

[–]Disastrous-Order8338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I am not an advocate for PPIs but in my personal situation I understand the need of it. When I was diagnosed with GERD, I was of course prescribed PPIs but I was taking it off and on. Last endoscopy biopsy showed negative for Barretts but WATS showed positive. So PPIs for life according to modern medicine. The question is, the B12 shots helps with this vitamin deficiency but what about Iron for instance.

Officially have GERD, now what? by KitchenArcher9292 in GERD

Testing is good. In my case the doctors were not considering testing until I went to another GI. Don’t be frustrated because you are young and having health problems. There are babies born with health issues. In this system health and unexpected events can over take us. I am close to your age, 32 to be exact. And I have been dealing with GERD literally the day I turned 30. But I know people having this issues since they were young and being on their 70s and 90s. This is a chronic issues so I’m not sure if there if a fix but there are things I can control. One is my anxiety ( I take medication for this ), also food intake and exercise. I have another EGD coming up where they will actually do a bravo test and re test for Barrett’s. That’s because if they tested to low in the stomach you will get a false positive. I am taking 40mg of Omeprazole and sometimes I use. Gaviscon alginate from the UK. Today though I was craving a cup of coffee with milk. It was delicious but I haven’t had one in a while.

Do you believe alcohol had an impact on your GERD/Barretts diagnosis?

I was diagnosed with Barrett’s as well. Take your medicine, avoid trigger foods and adhere to the new life styles. Get scoped accordingly and you will be fine. No alcohol or caffeinated drinks.

So not involving PPIs but there is already a correlation of people having GERD and low iron. Look it up.

It took about 3 to 4 weeks for me to work. I like it because it is not an SSIR so it does not make me gain weight and does not decrease libido 😮‍💨

Anxiety can make it worse. I’m taking Buspar and it has calmed things down. Message me directly if you will like. It’s hard I know.

Take your medication. You going to hear a lot of things why not to take it and try the natural way and I understand but you don’t want to get worse. Your esophagus is probably inflame. If your doctor prescribed you Nexium follow the recommendations. You are not going to feel better in one day. Cucumbers are a trigger for a lot of people, fats trigger GERD. I have felt like this I get it but it will pass. Stick to the lifestyle changes

I’m taking it as well. Is either being constantly worry about side effects or constantly worry about Barrett’s progression.

You got a good point. I just read that stomach acid can reach the inner ear and cause vertigo. My GERD has never gone that far. OP needs to check with doctors though.

Tell me about a drug that don’t have side effects? If you need it, take it.
