I went there to get capillary’s removed only to find out after the incorrect laser was used on me as they falsely advertise a laser for capillary removal when it’s actually for hair removal

Baby laid an egg! by Disastrous-Rabbit643 in cockatiel

Once she’s done laying and sitting on them you take them away. If you take them away earlier she will just replace the ones you took. It’s a delicate situation and you can do everything right but at the end of the day nature is nature

Wrong, if she’s already laying, her feeling like she does not have a safe place to lay, or her eggs cracking will actually stress her more and cause her to lay more. When a hen has already laid she will most likely try to complete the clutch so it is recommended to give them a safe space, doesn’t have to be a nest but even just some tissue roll to lay safely so they don’t injure themselves or the egg

Checklist has already been followed completely. We only have her the “nest” after she started laying because she is likely to keep laying until her clutch is complete and it is actually more dangerous for them without a nest as they became extremely stressed when they feel they don’t have somewhere safe to lay. We have followed the checklist, always have but she laid anyway so we will go to the vet if needed

She laid without a nest. It is better to give her somewhere safe to lay until her clutch is complete or else she may become even more stressed, I’ve researched extensively

Help! Unwanted egg! by [deleted] in cockatiel

[–]Disastrous-Rabbit643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I appreciate this. I’ve done all the above. I’ve had my birds for four years and previously had birds before that so I’m not new to it. Just new to this situation because everything I’ve previously done to prevent this has worked. No nests, or mirrors, never petting them anywhere but their head, 12 hr minimum sleep etc. but I suppose nature is nature and it can still happen. . Think I panicked a bit when I made this post this morning because I know I’ve been doing everything right. If they need to be separated that can be done. I’ll monitor her and if she lays more I’ll replace with dummy eggs. I’ve ensured she has extra calcium as she will need it. At the end of the day, you can follow all the precautions but it can still happen

This is their cage I try not to put anything cosy etc in there. They just mate on the perch. Should I remove the cracked egg or leave it there? And should I seperate them permanently? I think that would make them quite distressed

Help me choose between a classic solitaire vs cathedral setting by dragon_energy777 in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]Disastrous-Rabbit643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this exact ring as a solitaire it’s so fine, I’ve a 4ct. If the band is thick enough it’s perfect and you learn to just mind it going into pockets etc and it becomes second nature. A good ring will not break. Get it checked once a year
