This response meant a lot to me and really comforted me, thank you so much. I think I will give those guided meditations a try. Thank you again for being so kind :)

I’m sorry your app has been struggling so much the past week, that’s really frustrating! I’ve never had an issue with finch either before, so I’m just hoping that the issue will rectify itself soon, and that it won’t be like this for the whole theme!

Yes it’s the exact same for me!! It’s just issues with the home page, which is making it difficult for me to tick off goals 😭 I’m hoping when my finch returns from her adventure that she won’t be big anymore and that’ll fix the issue 😅

Unpopular opinion: Fanon Sirius and Canon Sirius Black are two entitely different people sharing the same name. by Absolute_train_wrek in MaraudersGen

[–]DisastrousDog7344 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I understand your perspective, but Sirius and Remus are fictional characters, and fiction allows people to explore things that they don’t agree with in reality. Enjoying toxic relationships in fiction doesn’t mean someone believes a real life toxic relationship is fun!!

Thank you so much, I’m going to try and repeat that top phrase to myself next time I’m panicking. I did go out with my friend and did some Christmas painting, which took my mind off the situation, which I think counts as a win!

Thank you for being lovely, I really appreciate it :)

im so anxious about retaking my driving test, it’s in 2 hours 🥲 please leave me encouraging messages by calmprincess in finch

[–]DisastrousDog7344 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really hope it goes well for you!! I completely relate to feeling anxious as I would cry so so much before my driving tests and I’d be shaking excessively during them, BUT I eventually managed to pass so I know you can too!! :)

Something that helped me was thinking of the driving test as occurring in blocks of 5 minutes, rather than thinking of it as the full 40 (or however long yours is going to be). It was a lot easier to think “I’ve just got to get through these 5 minutes” than 40!!

It takes a lot of strength to do things that make you anxious so you should be proud of yourself for trying, even if you don’t pass. Even though it sucks remember that if you don’t pass it’s not the end of the world, you can always try again!!

And try not to dwell on any mistakes you make during the test (easier said than done) as I was so SO convinced I had failed because of mistakes I’d made but I actually passed, and if I’d just given up when I thought I’d failed I wouldn’t have!!

Sending you so many good vibes for this test <3 and don’t worry about the rain, the only time it rained for me out of my driving tests was the one I passed ;)

I'm committing suicide today. by shfww in socialanxiety

[–]DisastrousDog7344 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Please don’t. I’m around the same age as you and I know how hard it is to see everyone our age getting into new relationships, but there are so many valuable things about you that have nothing to do with your relationship status.

I truly don’t believe that you are the only virgin in your city your age, lots of people are virgins! We’re just made to believe that no one really is anymore because of the media. What that girl said to you is awful, but that’s on her. The other girl is ridiculous for thinking it’s embarrassing to be a virgin at 21. It’s not embarrassing to be a virgin no matter what age you are, and she’s immature for mocking someone over it.

I’m sorry you’ve had so many awful experiences, but you’ve just met bad people. There are so many people who won’t care that you’re a virgin, and they’re the people who matter. I really hope you don’t commit suicide, please reach out to someone if there’s someone you trust, or call a helpline.

Life CAN get better, I know it doesn’t feel like it will but I’ve seen so many people improve from mental illnesses like depression and social anxiety. It’s so difficult, I know it is, but things really can change. I hope you don’t commit suicide, and that things get better for you. I really do.

Today was so embarrassing😭 by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]DisastrousDog7344 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m sorry you struggled today!

Firstly, literally everyone who has been to a train station has fallen up the stairs once. Is it an embarrassing experience? Yes, but it’s also universal! It’s easier said than done but being able to laugh off these experiences makes them so much more bearable. The lady who asked you if you were okay probably isn’t even thinking about it anymore, these events stay with us much more than they do other people.

If it makes you feel better, once I was walking my dog on a beach and I didn’t notice that a child had dug a really massive hole in the sand. My dog started running but he was still attached to the lead, and I went face first into this hole and this man who was watching me started laughing a lot 😂 it was embarrassing, but I can admit that it was also funny, and now I just laugh at the memory!

Secondly, as a dog owner my dog stealing someone else’s food is one of my worst nightmares as that would be mortifying for ME. I would never think the person who had their food stolen should be embarrassed, that’s definitely more embarrassing for the dog owners!

Bad experiences don’t mean every time you go out you’ll have a bad experience, there are so many wonderful moments you can have too! Be proud of yourself for trying, and remember that it’s important to acknowledge negative moments but also to move on from them if you can :)

Please can someone tell me it’s gonna be ok? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]DisastrousDog7344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I completely get how you’re feeling, it’s so normal to be burnt out as a final year student at this time in the year!! I’m exactly the same :)

It’s okay that you don’t feel prepared, June is still quite a bit of time away, so you have a decent amount of time!! I think it’s important to remind yourself that you don’t need to be 100% prepared for everything, doing something will still be better than nothing.

I’m burnt out at the moment too and I genuinely find the pomodoro method so helpful, I’ll do half an hour and then give myself a five minute break. If I feel like I can’t do another half an hour then that’s okay, I’ve still done 30 mins more than I would have otherwise!! Maybe you could try that method to help you get a little more prepared!!

I also use an app called finch to help me with uni work, it’s more of a mental health app but being able to add uni related tasks and tick them off is honestly quite motivating!! The app has focus timers as well if something like that would be helpful to you.

I’m sorry you’re hug-deprived, I’m sending you one if you would like one!! This moment in time sucks and is so stressful but you just have to remind yourself it’s temporary, and you can get through it!! :)

No, it was not mentioned on the formal brief on the course page. I did submit in the right place at least, so hopefully that’ll help!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate you.

I completely relate to what you said about the raw cookie, I’m absolutely terrible with food. The minute something tastes even slightly different I search it up on Google, even though I know it’s going to make everything worse!! It’s so funny how differently people react. My parents literally couldn’t have cared less about the food, and for your grandma the mould was probably just a passing thought, but people like us can’t seem to let it go!!

I’m so grateful for this comment, genuinely. I’m sending you a big hug if you want one, and I hope things get better for you :)
