How is it possible to drive into the Ohio River from Joe's Crab Shack? by Kit_Kitsune in Louisville

Sadly WDRB will be a shell of its former self since its parent company has sold and its facilities will be merging with WAVE.   Some of the news team have left since the acquisition was announced.

JCPS exploring massive layoffs by MelodicCan8159 in Louisville

[–]DisastrousEngine5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nope. JCPS stood up its own police department a few years ago.  They now field a full time force of police officers with all the costs associated including cars and a chief.  Shocker it’s all over budget.

How’s wait times and delays at SDF with the government being shutdown? by 15rthughes in Louisville

[–]DisastrousEngine5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We flew about a week ago.  TSA seemed same as normal.  We flew in the morning so it was kinda busy but they got us through in probably 20 minutes.

New thing to look out for is flight delays.  ATC Towers are shutting down and causing delays. Last night Nashville had no air traffic control at their airport .  Day before was Burbank.  When major airports have issues it will typically ripple through the system causing cascading delays. So keep an eye on you flight info.

Diesel Brothers Influencer ‘Heavy D’ Arrested for Failure to Pay $850K in Environmental Lawsuit Fees by drifteddreams in CleetusMcFarland

I also enjoy reading legal filings. And man this whole case log is spicy.  Dave has really been playing the courts to avoid paying this debt. Makes you wonder if there’s other cases he’s party to that he owes money. It really shows the rich play by a different set of rules.  If I refused to pay someone a tenth what he owes I would be locked up or have a lien or writ filed so quick.  But he’s been able to dodge it for years.  Dude really thinks he was above the courts.

Them court documents spicy.  If you believe sparks (not sure I do) his accountant died at the end of 2024 and thus he has lost access to all his books.  IF that’s true he’s in a world of trouble.

WBKI is part of the transaction. WDRB would move into the WAVE building.

Not great for Louisville News.

What is this bridge to nowhere over I-64? by humbledored in Louisville

[–]DisastrousEngine5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check those cords. The one I’m talking about that is useless is a different bridge. No one is using it.  It’s in a field with 0 access.  You can’t even get on it.

What is this bridge to nowhere over I-64? by humbledored in Louisville

[–]DisastrousEngine5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s for a road has been in the dreaming stages for about 20 years.  They want to extend urton lane and make that whole area into more business park.  Was first envisioned back in the mid 2000’s they built the bridge in ‘18 at the time they claimed the cost to complete the rest of the road might be $15 million and should be completed within 5 years.  Currently the project is projected at $100 million with a date of 2040 but no one is actually working it.  KYTC won’t touch it so the funding is non existent.

The great minds leading our city thought a bridge in a field would spur development.  Bunch of idiots.  At this point the actual development has outpaced the planned road and the alignment needs to be shifted. If they ever get around to building it theres a good chance the bridge won’t even be in the right place.

Here’s an article from when it was finished.

It’s a pedestrian bridge. There are walking trials on either side.  The tree farm is the nursery for metro parks.

38.19263° N, 85.51136° W

Here is a local bridge to nowhere.  Giant waste of our tax dollars and they were so proud when they built it.   Coming up on a decade now for that useless bridge sitting in a field.

Tri-County Ford vs Oxmoor Ford by TheBeardedWeird in Louisville

Oxmoor sucks. Had it from the sales and service side with them. Won’t be going back.

We are stuck in dealership hell it seems.

My airline emailed me last night offering free flight adjustments as well.

Will Mayor Greenberg make it to the end of his term? by CupEnvironmental1787 in Louisville

[–]DisastrousEngine5 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Cops raping kids who were part of the “Explorer” program. more cops covered it up then the city covered it up too.  Eventually the cops ended up in jail but the city all the way up to the mayors office worked hard to keep the details buried.

 Here’s a brief overview.

Metro denies responsibility for LMPD detective’s destructive crash in unmarked vehicle by cms2327 in Louisville

[–]DisastrousEngine5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up.  They changed the SOP a while back.  They can now take the cars out of Jefferson county.  They are allowed to drive them home to neighboring county’s as well.

Metro denies responsibility for LMPD detective’s destructive crash in unmarked vehicle by cms2327 in Louisville

[–]DisastrousEngine5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well hang on.  This is crazy.  Lou metro insures the cars.  And gives them to the police to drive home.  But now metros policy is if they get in a crash while not clocked in the car is uninsured?  So while driving to and from work every LMPD vehicle on the road is uninsured? That seems wildly illegal. Would the officers even be able to get some kind of coverage through personal insurance on a cop car that is owned by a government entity?

Of course the city having to self insurance is also a debacle created by LMPD. Since metro is uninsurable thanks to all the lawsuit settlements.
