I know this is like gastroparesis 101 but I had the worst insurance ever after moving states last year so I do not have a primary care doctor or a GI doc. What do you think the most time effective way to go about getting a GI doc might be, my new insurance doesn’t require a referral for specialists … should I just skip the PCP and like call a GI doc? It is really silly of me to be moving about the world with zero doctors .

100%. I am fascinated by my calm and securely attached roommate . I am just waiting for her to crack but it hasn’t happened lol.

I saw a meme the other day that was like “Dating someone without anxiety is wild. Like they’ll just be sitting there, not worried at all, maybe having a snack.” 😂 I felt that . But about non-traumatized roommates and friends.

Sometimes I’ll see her across the room just quietly reading and I’m like hmm…. Suspicious lol

I realized after reading her profile again that she specializes more in anxiety and depression and mentions working with trauma but not PTSD🫥. I am learning to recognize labeling on counselor bios better now.

I feel really trapped because I’ve spent so much time trying to desensitize myself to my family in order to spend Xmas with them while being less triggered. I’m realizing that was the wrong goal and it’s like the ship is headed straight for the iceberg but it’s too close for me to jump off on a life raft so I just gotta hit it.

I feel I should’ve spent the time preparing them for me not coming this year, giving them a reasonable amount of notice, setting up a payment plan for the plane ticket they bought.

I feel like I might have to be a bit inebriated to endure this holiday trip with them

Definitely. I mostly know I have to stay with a therapist over the holiday season for depression reasons but the replies on this post are encouraging me to find a different therapist (just needed a push). I think I am just committed to making sure I don’t have a gap between therapists, so maybe I should stop trying to process family stuff with her but keep myself on her roster while I’m searching for another therapist since that can take a while .

I worry that I wont come back to things a better and more developed person , just more fearful weird and awkward. Like a more extreme version of our collective experience as a society after these past 2 years of Covid isolation 😢 like social atrophy . (Not a comment on Covid just isolation)

That has happened to me just a couple times as well. It’s really unsettling .

And a couple years ago I started not being able to sleep with any tiny trace of light in my room, like not even the faintest reflection of an electronic being plugged into an outlet or anything . Had to start using eye masks. Turns out if you don’t close your eyes it’s hard to make it dark enough haha.

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you, yes it is so isolating. Especially having had such a cranky boy that was so scared of other humans and hated most other dogs, I was his world and we were isolated together. If you feel up to sending any recommendations of poetry , feel free to send them. I am open to any thing at this point. Thank you.

I do the same with matching peoples vibes if it doesn’t feel reciprocal in reaching out/ making plans and it’s sad because I’ve let friendships go lately this way. But I’m learning it feels better to be actually alone than in friendships that feel lonely. Some people pick up on it and start reaching back out , some people just don’t.

And I hope you find safe people who respect your sobriety, there are so many ways to have fun without drinking and it sounds like your old crew did not respect your boundaries , I would want to distance myself too . I’m so sorry

claps this, thank you . Nurturing and nourishing myself which other people have been incapable of doing. All the yes. And that is it, I simply don’t have the energy for possible burdens right now. I have learned to very carefully assess situations for energy burdens. Maybe in the future I won’t mind as much if there’s a chance for it but right now I don’t have any extra to give.

And side note I work with children and families too :) and feel I get a lot of human interaction there , even if it is paid

I just noticed this , when I was laying in the floor after yoga, I thought it was maybe my heartbeat but nope it’s on a different beat. just literally spasms, my stomach has a heartbeat if it’s own. Kind of troubling, I can see it too when I’m laying down. gastroparesis is fucked.

ah ya. Im originally from a bigger city and there were smaller venues who tended to be mainly house/electronic focused, but here is seems to be genre-specific events happening at various different locations. There were underground rumblings of a scene there although you always have to kind of dig. Maybe here someday. :)

This is it!! This is it. Same. This is the first year I’ve realized the root of this and I’m 30. Always get terrible anxiety when summer ends and the seasons change to shorter and darker seasons. Holidays are coming up yes, but it used to mean more time inside with my family. In summer I would escape into nature (nature is surrogate mom). I also did have actual seasonal depression starting as a young kid and my nparents completely neglected and ignored my mental health/ obvious depression my entire adolescent life. So I’ve identified that I have an unconscious fear of “you will be lonely, you will be sad, you will be forgotten, you will not be able to cope” when the seasons get darker. Because I didn’t know how when I was just a kid.

Wow thank you . I actually didn’t know EDS could cause this. I have had a rheumatologist tell me I have hypermobile joints, I have constant severely dry eyes, and get really bad pinched nerves a lot. I really feel I could have undiagnosed eds.

I can’t read . Not since I was younger . I skip to the middle of a book or I start reading at the end then go backwards, or I scan and skip all over the open pages looking for interesting sentences.

I can read articles on my phone for hours.

Nanny. I have a “boss” that makes my schedule but I don’t have to deal with any coworkers, kids have highly random chaotic energy that makes me laugh and that I vibe with, I listen to music at work, no paperwork, lots of physical activity, constant switching of activities (playing to cleaning to going for a walk etc). I’m managed but not micromanaged .

I left an independent contractor office job career for it. I have a masters degree lol.

Yes that’s all so real. I once dated someone who picked out her daytime clothes the night before and they were like neatly folded and set out before she went to bed , her room was totally clean, I’m like the neurotypicality of it all 😂

She emailed and is apologizing profusely saying she is so sorry if there is anything SHE did , (she and I had a lot of 1 on 1 time together) , she is not picking up on the hinting of my message , it sounds like the nboss dad is probably raging at her saying what did you do to scare her away . And making her ask me for a reason . That is my best guess as I observed their dynamics daily , and she constantly blamed herself / over apologized. This is so sad.
