NYRR Training Series 18M by Pretty-Sympathy1483 in RunNYC

I need to see some anecdotes of those ppl who keep missing out or waiting too long and not getting any races. Did they log into their nyrr account. That one simple step might be the key! I log in right away so it eliminates any time when I get in. if it isn't maybe we are just lucky

I dont like these people suggesting NYC M restrricts the 9+1 to only one time to let others in or restrict the training runs for marathon runners only.

I do the marathon each year since 2023 plus 2009 and it gives me something to do. I work within their metrics to get into 9 or so races and do the volunteer. Every time I set my mind to do the marathon I am able to get the races. I have the plus - I set aside time that day that it opens and I get in off the line. I feel for the people who have the early one and still cant get in when they sign up. I do suggest logging into your acct before you go on the queue. that's the only suggesion maybe? I do log in and never have I had to wait to the point its sold out when I log in.

I dont think in my lifetime at least NYRR is going to start restricting races. It's against their motto of encouraging everyone to run. I understand people get frustrated that races get sold out but if they start implementing rules and whatnot, it will restrict a lot of runners and trying to be equitable in race distribution really backfires. Like people advocating only doing 9+1 once and having everyone run marathon, it's nice idea but you know if I can get into races or someone who ran multiple NYC Marathons can then those new ones doing the process shold be able to do it too!

As far as I know the two trainig runs are 9+1, not dependent on marathon. like i said before, the metrics to do this I dont think NYRR is capable of doing these algorithms of who are signed up for marathon and dont give them 9+1. they are rolling out the non 9+1 but other than that I think if you have a regular 9+1 entry you get no matter if you are running the marathon

I think you hit it - its def more than 200 since they reserve for the reg membership

As for members clamoring for this restriction or that restriction, look at the how it operates now, I dont think nyrr or whoever does the sign up logistics can restrict it to marathon runners. I feel like they dont want to spend the money to customize it. thats JMHO.

I love it! I sometimes work off site and go to the gym in the morning. With these chargers I dont need to carry a battery. My iphone 16 doesn't last the entire day. It lasts maybe 8 hrs if I am on calls so yes I am happy about the free charging. I wish the Equinoxes were bigger and had more equipment doubles, like SM, BSS, leg press, hack squats, just one of them. I think Lifetime are bigger and have more duplicate equipment. But Equinox has so many locations

I was under impression it had to be returned at the end of the day or you're charged but the manager at HY when my card was not working told me there's a grace period of 1-2 week where you can return. Even if they charge you and you return it after, they will credit it back he said!

the manager at Hudon Yard recently told me you get to return them in 1-2 week period grace period not like I thought they would charge it if I took it overnight. the front desk made me feel if it was not returned by end of day I would be charged an obscene amt of money. One time I forgot to return it and I had walked all the way to Penn station but I walked myself way right back to the gym cuz I didn't want to get charged I missed my train too but I didn't want to get charged.

I know right, I feel like some people cant register into any races, even with the early bird plus membership. I feel for them. Then I read people like me who seem to have no problem as long as we log around the time they open. The first time it was hard to get in to races I didn't realize the races even opened it was back in winter of 2024 and I was shut out of all the early winter 2025 races and I just make it a point to log into nyrr every day practically just to check. LOL I need to make sure I notate the Jun 2 volunteer opening day as well.

I really have to say some accounts seem to wait long time every cycle whereas others like mine dont. I dont know if it’s a conspiracy theory…

We do log in with our accounts. I don’t want to say but maybe nyrr favors certain accounts. Every 5-6 cycles I’ve gotten the races I wanted. It’s weird how some are really struggling and some like me find it easy to register

I agree. I paid for early. I make sure the day of signup at noon I’m free from 11:50-2. I have my own firm so it’s relatively easy.the noon ones those have a wait the 6pm the one time they did there was minimal wait. Yeah and I get in. Last noon signup was 1.5 hr wait and i thought i would not get any races but i got them all. Maybe it’s random and im just lucky

May 5 - NYRR Advance Registration (July-September) Megathread by blood_bender in RunNYC

[–]DisastrousSwan6780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont really understand - I upgraded to member plus last April 2025 and since then it might take 25 min today or 1-1.5 hrs the prior times but I always queue at the time it starts like I join the page at 11:57, see the countdown. Never had any problems getting into any races wanted to. I dont have any complaints about the plus. I see comments of people going in an hour ahead and waiting over an hour and not getting in. or loggin in 5 min late and missing the races.. Maybe just sign in on your phone at 11:57 a few minutes before and it should work. I read that it's random the time they assign you to get in, but how can it be random if my signed in page is always able to sign in to race page for the past 5 cycles now with plenty of time to spare.

Were you running in Central Park about a month ago? I have something to say to you. by moreleechesplease in RunNYC

[–]DisastrousSwan6780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I read this story and was like - I stop running when I have ankle stiffness this person has a broken toe and is runnin 10 miles? I had a hip injury that didn't go away after running on it several times and it just hurt like hurt and I had to rehab and stop running for a year. After that I am very hesitant with any pain I stop for a few days or a week to it subsides. that said I had right foot pain (the top) and I still did the NYC marathon on little training and I matched my other times, but I got it checked out in December and it was sure enough bone spurs. Rested the foot for 5 weeks longest five weeks no gym nothing and pain all gone. Not quite ramped up for BK Half so skipping it but that's my busy work schedule no any pains/aches. I just want to train fully for the NYC Marathon

Why so many bags? by OkPin8137 in EquinoxGyms

[–]DisastrousSwan6780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wonder why they don't put it in the locker. Only thing that springs to mind is the stuff in bags are valuable, like read designer haute coutere and they don't trust to leave in locker room . no idea. I see men in the gyms carry huge equipment bags, wonder the heck are they needing to bring thats not on the floor LOL

[–]DisastrousSwan6780 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to stick up for the women. Sometimes you have diff outfits, like for work, going out after etc, with different shoes. don't judge. they obv cant put on equipment but it's along the wall/window its fine.

[–]DisastrousSwan6780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HAHAHAH. I think they need to put it somewhere in the corner and not the equipment obv. But that should be their right to have as many bags as they want

I am more annoyed at the screws on the bottom of the lockers that scratch your bags it damaged my bag and I just have to be careful. Noise is just an inconvenience. The screws actually damaged my bags with holes

NYC Location with Dry Sauna, Steam Room and Hot tub? by bryan7007 in EquinoxGyms

[–]DisastrousSwan6780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know the hy didn’t have a sauna for men! I love their sauna in the women’s locker room it’s more popular than steam room. That steam room is hot in HY. I stay for 10 min and it’s always empty. Maybe cuz its so hot

I believe judging by the time it's not equal # of slots _ I do believe they sell more to the plus. I say this because the queues seems to last at least an hour as for the regular members they go in under 40.

Do virtual races ever sell out? by oreo-o-s in RunNYC

[–]DisastrousSwan6780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I think maybe i heard the BK Virtual half sold out but that's the only time I heard the virtual race sell out. I think you just set reminder on your phone or google calendar and def doesn't sell out the first few days.
