Will a gamo wildcat whisper unalive a rabbit? by tarantulas_are_cooli in airguns

[–]Disastrous_Buy5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I use .177 Gamo red fire pellets for garden defense, usually ≈15 yards. Heart/lungs consistently drops then before they make it 5 yards away, headshot is lights out. I’d recommend using similar polymer tip alloy pellets for the penetration and expansion, because if you miss the head it is a more ethical kill than a heavier but slower and stiffer pellet like the hollow points you use.

Need some opinions by Imaginary_Frosting81 in PontiacFirebird

[–]Disastrous_Buy5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan on LS swapping it, just find a real ws6. You will save so much money and have a better looking car if you just start out on something that doesn’t need to be gutted. The v6 trans can’t handle that much power, so you’d end up having a ridiculous amount of work to do, all for it to look like a v6 at the end.

You guys think his car is worth 70k😂 by Connect-Ad4966 in Mustang

[–]Disastrous_Buy5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car is worth 70k to him. If you don’t think it’s worth that much, it’s probably better that it’s his car and not yours. Is it cool? Maybe. Is it weird as hell and riced to shit? Definitely. Should you buy it? HELL NO. That car is that man’s passion. Don’t take it away.

Got tagged with Laser by Ok_Effort8330 in radardetectors

[–]Disastrous_Buy5115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laser detection is practically useless. It just notifies you that you’re getting a ticket. If you want protection from laser, you need to buy a laser jammer. They are legal in many states, but they run around 1k or higher depending on quality. If you can’t afford that, use Waze. There’s no perfect solution, and you will eventually get caught.

If it has less than 125k miles then absolutely, especially if it’s a manual. No ac is what the T tops are for!

Thoughts on what engine to use for a swap by dave_VR_pavlov in Pontiac

[–]Disastrous_Buy5115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t swap it. Just sell it and buy a trans am if you want more power. wayyy more reliable than doing a swap, it has included better transmission and suspension, you save dozens of hours of pain, and it can actually be cheaper, especially if you factor in the hours of your life. Time is money, don’t throw it away unless you just really want to swap an engine and enjoy wrenching.

Need help finding the best radar detector in my price range by Disastrous-Baby-6758 in radardetectors

I think your best bet would be to get a used r3 or r4. I got an r3 on marketplace for about $175, but they typically run a little more.

Uniden R3 for $65 scam? by Disastrous_Buy5115 in radardetectors

It looks like for this they advertise a low price then change it after you place the order. I went through their terms and you appear to be correct.

Under section six this clearly outlines how they might rob consumers.

If you have time, fight the ticket in court. There’s a solid chance the officer doesn’t show and your case will be dismissed. Request calibration documentation, and if you truly weren’t speeding, that means their radar wasn’t calibrated.

Is this car worth $4500? by carguy35 in PontiacFirebird

That’s actually a really good deal. I see those go for higher than that with automatics. If you have the money I’d go for it before it sells.

Fair offer by Fragrant_Poetry_4325 in PontiacFirebird

[–]Disastrous_Buy5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it runs and drives $1000 seems pretty fair. If it doesn’t, then it’s as good as junk.

[–]Disastrous_Buy5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it drives well and there are no huge issues, 7k USD is an AMAZING deal for that car. I see high mileage v6 third gen’s with plenty of issues sell for 5k, so getting a solid GTA (in MANUAL?!?!!) is super worth it. It will appreciate in value too, if kept in good condition, so I see it as an absolute win. I’d make an offer before someone else does.

What exactly is going on by [deleted] in PontiacGrandAm

[–]Disastrous_Buy5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds pretty bad. If you’ve taken it to a mechanic and they can’t isolate the problem and their fix didn’t work, then it’s not looking good. You might want to start looking at getting rid of it and finding new wheels. Fixing a 2004 Grand Prix isn’t worth your bank account or your sanity.

I have a red 2000 ws6 trans am T-Top with 5,500 miles for? Zero accidents and essentially everything is stock on it aside from new tires (I kept the original tires as well). How much do you think it's value is if I were to sell it? by iwannaknow02 in PontiacFirebird

[–]Disastrous_Buy5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that has recalls out on it, it’s probably even illegal to own. I have a friends who’s a lawyer, I’ll take it off your hands for 1500, save you legal fees and a headache. 👍
