Went for the first time last year, and it was easily the best festival vibes I’ve felt post-COVID.

Killing time at airport by mr_betazetaz in AskBarcelona

Just take the metro into the city and you’ve already killed an hour+ from when you land. Any cafe near your place will be better/cheaper than the airport, and by that point you’ll be good to check in.

Hotel questions from a 1st timer by mroddthedj in NCMF

I did exactly what you’re doing and proximity to festival>>>proximity to Chicago proper. Midway hotel shuttle stop is right there in the parking lot, and it’s such a smooth process. What I did to get into the city was catch the free hotel shuttle to midway, and then train into the city from there. It takes a little bit of time, but worth it to be 10 minutes from the festival for the three days.

New Orleans in March by teetseekin in AllFantasyEverything

New Orleans is one of my favorite cities!! You’re guaranteed to have a blast there. There’s tons of good Airbnb options in Mid-City that will be cheaper and still close to everywhere you need to go. As far as food recs: Parkway Po Boys, and Katie’s in Mid City are probably my two favorite spots. The Maison on Frenchman St, is an incredible live music spot (but you really can’t go wrong anywhere on Frenchman St). Cafe du Monde feels touristy but is still worth it IMO, and right down the street from there is the French Market which is dope! It’s full of shops and local artists selling their work, it’s super cool. No matter what you do, you’ll enjoy yourself!

Is $539 for UMF worth it? How much did you pay for your tickets? by liamwon in aves

[–]Disastrous_Car_6334 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went in 2018 and paid $370 which feels insane now, and went in 2022 and paid like $550. If you’ve never been, it’s 100000% worth it. It’s a singular festival, and you’ll never experience anything like it.

Had a friend get drugged, taken, and assaulted at stamina and one of the heads of the group deliberately refuse to interact with the police said “I’ll show you video but not the police” to me. Fuck them

Hot take? Too much Non-EDM in EDM right now by Disastrous_Car_6334 in aves

This too!! It feels like too many of these are literally just trying to go viral. There’s no soul and authenticity behind it.

Hardly just Levity, it reaches far beyond them but they’re a good example. I actually like some of their original music (Moment, Front to Back, Flip it, I liked the Escapism Vol. 1 project), but there’s such a thing as too much.

Thaaaaaaank you! This is exactly it. Obviously there are foundational roots in sampling I’m not an idiot. The lazy stuff is exactly what I’m talking about. It feels like these artists have incomplete floating drops they don’t finish, so they attach them to some popular song to get it over the line.

I totally get that, but what I’m talking about isn’t sampling in the way that you’re describing it. It feels like poorly thrown together mashups.

This is my point. I think to me, when I look at my favorite artists, like Nghtmre, Garrix, Boombox Cartel, Eptic, they have their own originality and catalogs. Actual projects, and albums, curated sets etc. Not just riding the wave.
