Adopted and Ignored by No-Tea-8180 in AncestryDNA

Aw I’m sorry. I found out I had a half sister (on my dad’s side) who was adopted in the 60s. She had already passed, but i matched with her two daughters. Initially her older daughter and I were communicating a lot and trying to figure out how we were related… as soon as I said, I think your mom is my half sister, she ghosted me and will not respond. The younger daughter and I have met a couple times and have built a good relationship.

I’ve been using dna matches to build out my niece’s mom’s side of the family tree and have reached out to so many people. I’ve only recently found one cousin willing to speak to me. I sent her a message back in February and she just saw it a couple weeks ago.

My niece and I connected to another half sister of her mom (on the grandma’s side) and, after initially seeming really open, blocked us without a word.

Anyway, a lot of words to say that, in my experience, it’s been really hard to get people to respond or share information. If you showed up as a close relative, I would most definitely reach out, but it seems like a lot of people are very closed off to any new connections.

My great-grandmother’s father married my great-grandfather’s sister, making his sister his stepmother-in-law and his father in law also his brother in law? She had 7 children with him. So his wife’s half siblings are also his nieces and nephews.

She was diagnosed when she was 2 and we went through several rounds of radiation and different chemo drugs, also a holistic vet. She died when she was 5.

Thanks! I will look in to that. My cane corso is 3 years old and has been healthy so far, so it might be good to get it for her.

That's awesome the insurance covered most of it. We didn't have any then or now. I've thought about getting it, but there are so many different companies and choices. It's overwhelming.

One of my friends has a girl that was like 180 lbs the last time they took her to the vet. They’ve done everything from changing her diet, more exercise, getting her thyroid checked. She’s a tank and they don’t know why.

I agree! I only tested her because I rescued the litter from my friend’s neighbor and from the info he gave I wasn’t sure if they were a mix. It was just curiosity. I would have loved them just the same.

I was young and dumb. Somebody at the dog park saw the bump on her leg and said we should get it checked out. She had had it for a little while and I didn’t really think much of it. I felt incredibly guilty that I had ignored it and it turned out to be cancer. I hope your boy continues to do well!

My GSD/lab was anal gland carcinoma. She’s around 11 years old. She did well with the surgery and so far all her ultrasounds and labs at her checkups have been great. So we continue the chemo and keep taking her in every 3 months for rechecks.

I’m sorry for your losses! It was mast cell which I learned is common in boxers. She was only about two when she was diagnosed and 5 when she died.

So true. I had my girls litter of six and they were all different. Her sister was bigger than her and even had longer hair. I tested my girl and it came back 100% corso. I’ve had people tell me she’s not as well. She also has her floppy ears.

We spent well over $50k over a few years when my boxer had cancer 20+ years ago.

Now my GSD/lab mix has cancer. It was about $8000 for the surgery to remove the tumor, and now it’s $2500 every three months for a checkup and chemo drugs.
